Is this a sign of what is coming for the rest of the nation? In Martin County, Kentucky times are very tough right now. Thanks to severe budget cutbacks, there are only two paid law enforcement officers covering a deeply impoverished 231-square-mile area that sits right in the heart of Americas raging opioid crisis. Needless to say, Martin County Sheriff John Kirk feels greatly outnumbered by the thieves, sexual predators and drug dealers that he has to contend with on a daily basis, and he recently issued a very ominous warning to the citizens of his county
Before making a wave of cutbacks across his department, Martin County Sheriff John Kirk delivered a grim warning to residents of this hardscrabble Appalachian community.
Law enforcement as we have known for the last four years will not exist, he posted on Facebook last month. WE ARE BROKE
LOCK YOUR DOORS, LOAD YOUR GUNS AND GET YOU A BARKING, BITING DOG. If the Sheriffs office cant protect you, WHO WILL?

Bro, shoot them in the back of the ####ing head on the way to their cell if they’re convicted of murder.
I’ll eat my pasta just fine that night.
My husband and I had four dogs; we used to joke about our “four tier defense system”; two of them were not friendly and liked to bite.
Two of them slept in in our bedroom, one slept in the hall and the Siberian husky who slept in the living room right by the front door (she looked like a blue eyed timber wolf) was not overly friendly either.
We didn’t have any problems.
Nice doggie.
Nice looking set of fangs — and probably would not hesitate to bite.
Only if needed(grins)
He needs to shoot a few holes in his sign
I imagine if said retired police officer and son were crouched down and trying hard not to be noticed the hairs on the back of your neck would stand on end.
People who approached our house walked carefully and stayed on our gravel driveway(a long driveway at that)
If they darted from tree to tree(or bush to bush, trying to conceal themselves) I imagine our responses would have been a bit different.
However, the stranded people only wanted a phone call and sometimes a cold drink, said “thank you” for our courtesy and offered to pay for said phone call and/or refreshments. Then they were on their way. We always declined as it was our Christian duty not to aid strangers in need.
I’d be more paranoid today, given the circumstances and the news reports. But probably still offer help. With the gun a little closer.
Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
"thee" "Abram", not his posterity. It was a personal blessing.

OK, I'm confused.
I have Jewish/Druidic ancestry and my husband and I thought the name was cool.
(According to my ancestry.com test the four strongest bloodlines in are Iberian, German, west African, and Taino [the Indians of Puerto Rico.])
The rest of me is a smattering of different European ethnicities.
I’m told I have Norwegian, English, German, French, Czech, and something else ancestors. Maybe I should check.
