You're a man, If - Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
Ifyou can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, dont deal in lies,
Or being hated, dont give way to hating,
And yet dont look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dreamand not make dreams your master;
If you can thinkand not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth youve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: Hold on!
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kingsnor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything thats in it,
Andwhich is moreyoull be a Man, my son!
A little background on Rudyard Kipling, the above poem and his son.
The fate of John Kipling, rudyard Kiplings son.
My Boy Jack by Rudyard Kipling (c.1916)
Have you news of my boy Jack?
Not this tide.
When dyou think that hell come back?
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
Has any one else had word of him?
Not this tide.
For what is sunk will hardly swim,
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?
None this tide,
Nor any tide,
Except he did not shame his kind
Not even with that wind blowing, and that tide.
Then hold your head up all the more,
This tide,
And every tide;
Because he was the son you bore,
And gave to that wind blowing and that tide!
Pardon me whilst I wipe the privilege running from my eyes and collect my thoughts.

To me that song is man’s anthem.
And by the way a lot of people think Trump is an ass, too, but sometimes that’s exactly what the situation calls for.
A bull in a China closet full of vile and depraved idols.
Apparently a man is a woman with a beard.
Very nice first post.
Kipling Rocks.
simple reply,
The Dollar Shave Club.
‘Don’t think she had whiskers. She moustachioed though - as some takes on Shakespeare’s Sonnets posit that one of his muses therein was a man - is “engaging” shall we say?
fagdom
Wow... the fad for obsessing over the Gillette ad is going viral. Lets go put on black ski masks, yell at cops, and break Starbucks windows.
Here was a direct rebuttal to the Gillette “ad.”

My only none violent/socially acceptable response is to turn the Television off for the last 20 years and to leave the room when such disrespectful nonsense is spouted with an obvious disapproving shake of my head.
I think dismissive low key ridicule works best.
Those poor souls. They didnt have their fathers here.
It distrubes me to see how far we've fallen but that is exactly what they want.
So I wear my "Toxic Masculinity" with pride.
Open Doors, wait to be served last, say please and thankyou, help old ladies accross the street. etc
It's a legitmate response and it drives em nuts.
The most effective people I ever worked with were total A-holes and rather crude to boot. But you had to respect them cause they got the job done. Couldn’t agree more.
Speaking of beards, if San Fran Nan - The Goddess of Gomorrah - has one more face lift she’ll be sporting a goatee!
What is a man? Guys who’ve been using your product for over a hundred years and will now quit using them.
Good post. Thanks.
The left is running a full scale assault on western values and I am no longer ceding ground. As Obama said, "Get in their face", well, two can play that game. Their leaders don't believe this crap it's merely a way to demoralize us and I refuse.
Sort of an #IRefuseMovement
Just saw the ad for the first time.
What’s wrong with it?
I like it.
NIKE is dead to my family.
Gillette? Well - their message is the same as mine, it seems.

I am going to laugh every time that I think about your post!
ROFL
“It’s a legitimate response and it drives ‘em nuts.”
On occasion I have to use a walker to walk long distances. That usually involves using an elevator. Women see the walker then offer to hold the elevator door for me. I refuse and say, “No, thank you, m’am. You go first. I could not sleep knowing that I did not let a female go first. Besides, I do not want my mother to come up out of the grave and slap me in the back of the head!”
They laugh then walk in or out of the elevator first. ;-)
