In fairness to you, I want to say that you are indeed correct in your statement about the clerk asking the customer to leave. I did check and Georgia is one of the states that does not have political opinion as “protected”.
At the end of the day, the clerk received exactly what he deserved.

I must confess, I didn’t agree with your initial statement. As a retired LEO, I kept thinking how would I have handled the incident and at the end of the day, I probably would have told the customer to leave.
Unfortunately, this isn’t cut and dried like someone trespassing on private property. That’s pretty straightforward. There are some nuances here since it is a retail shop, but even though the clerk was an a$$, he still had the right to ask the customer to leave and that is what your position was from the beginning.

Not wrong. The clerk was a jerk. He should have been fired. That being said the pro Trump guy was a troll. Not much different then some gay guy that trolls Christian flower shops and bakeries trying to get something juicy for YouTube.

An employee can act within the scope of his employment. A store clerk cannot create or modify store policies. That is why they get fired for doing so. Just because you comply with every directive you get from a pissant clerk does not make it a requirement.

That's just your opinion. You are creating facts not in evidence. According to the facts as presented, he was just a shopper looking to buy a product that happened to be wearing a Trump shirt. He was attacked for it. Are you saying that if I go shopping in a Trump shirt that I'm trolling for trouble. If so, then go screw yourself. The last I looked, I still live in America and am entitled to wear apparel that supports the President of the US without being attacked for it.

Perhaps you would have. However, once viewing the video and hearing the thump that indicated direct physical contact, initiated by the clerk and received by the customer, you would have been obligated to arrest the clerk for Simple Battery.
