California Democrats will NEVER allow an independent to run for anything on the ballot. Democrats are fascists. That’s how it is here.

I’m not so sure about that. There may be a lot of independent voters, but the politicians are still all one party or the other.

Part of this story is that ‘some’ people (it might be in the 30-percent range) are just fed up with brand-name (Democrats or Republicans) politics. They don’t see either party has resolving issues or problems. It’s not just a national thing....it dwells now at the state level as well.

I think if you were a mid-30s California resident living in San Francisco....you probably are fairly hostile to the homeless problem, taxation, incompetence, and path ahead.

But the other side of this coin is that both parties have the funding and organizational routes covered. It’ll be hard to run as an independent.

I have a dream (and that's all it is) that, since the Unaffiliateds in Colorado are the largest registration group in the state, that they might somehow replace the state Republican party and run competent, viable candidates. The first question is: Would the subfactions within an Unaffiliated virtual party hate one another less than the subfactions of the CO Republican Party hate one another? The second question is: Could Unaffiliated candidates get some votes from disaffected Republicans and Democrats?

You forgot to mention a key fact.

Large majorities of Black and Hispanic Democrats voted against gay marriage - not because they are moderates, but because they don't like gays.

The Democrats and the MSM were so humiliated, they claimed the “Mormon vote” and Mormon ads swung the election, even though just 3% of voters were Mormon.

Maybe not a bad strategy in California and one benefit of it is it staves off the 24/7/365 media agenda against anything named GOP. Frankly I’ll take an “Independent” that thinks like me on most issues over a RINO any day.

My former home in California has just replaced a good House Republican with a proudly bisexual airhead. Granted she outraised him by millions (and actually said she didn’t take any PAC money) but he was really a good voice in the House. California cannot go far enough Left to get the total approval from Soros and Steyer.

I have to shoe-horn this in somewhere. Our local paper talked about the gas tax proposition in such a strange way. But people seemed to buy it.

This would repeal last year’s gas tax increase of 12 cents a gallon and vehicle registration hikes of $25 to $175, among other things. We don’t like taxes any more than the next person, but this measure is mainly a ploy by Republicans to get their base voters to the polls Tuesday. Ventura County already has benefited from the increases. If oil companies can raise gas prices on a whim, why can’t our state government raise them for a worthy cause?”

(a) A ploy by Republicans?! Like they don’t care about anything else going on? (b) Why can’t the government raise taxes for a worthy cause? Are they saying government can raise taxes on a whim if it is for a worthy cause? Don’t we pay enough taxes here?

Yes, but Dems carried all 6 of the other state-wide offices, plus the U.S. Senate seat, plus added several Congressional Representatives, plus secured supermajorities in both houses of the State Legislature.
