The escalation of hostility and violence in the United States is becoming undeniable. Over the past couple years alone, there have been politicians calling for increased antagonism toward Trump and his supporters, protesters (sometimes violently) confronting the police and ICE, violent clashes on the streets between Antifa and patriot groups, and many other instances that signify dark times ahead for the US. Almost one third of the nation believes a civil war is imminent. If this worst-case scenario becomes reality, who would have the upper hand?
Many on the right side of the political spectrum will hastily assume that they have the advantage because they have more guns. Republicans absolutely do own more guns, but many Democrats and Independents own guns as well. Will this advantage be enough to definitively win a war? It is hard to say.

That alone would probably preclude a hot start to a civil war.

If civil war ever comes, you can throw standard military tactics out the window. It will be a Guerrilla campaign, and extremely nasty - think Kosovo.
My hope and prayer is that Republics soundly defeat the Dems in November, making them realize their anti-Trump platform does not and cannot work, and they elect new leadership putting them back on the course of civility.
I fear that is impossible at this point.
Really kind of simple.Blockade tge big city liberal strongholds for food etc.Cut off power grid,and,water source.On three days tgey would be trying to escape to the suburban areas.Pick em off on their way out.
I don’t believe there will be a “civil war” but if there was, this is the simplest solution.
The left are concentrated in the large cities.
Cut off food, water and communication and the “war” is over before it starts.
Of course be prepared for millions to die.
Do we really want that? I don’t.
It took almost a century to prepare this battleground. It is going to take a long time to fix.
And the kings pilots would have been found hanging from an overpass one morning. Or the base commander would get a letter in the mail. A photo of his kids in crosshairs. The truck drivers delivering fuel to the warthog base would be “sick”. This is the reality in today’s world.

What makes you think the crew would fire on Americans. Hell, I'd think they would join us. Plus...birds gotta land. A .30-06 into the engine from the base perimeter deadlines the bird.
As powerful as it can be, our military is pitifully unable to fight while standing on top of its own logistical tail, and when directed at its own people.
It would dissolve with desertion and, at best, would be able to protect a few government locations like D.C..
How many USMC rifle companies are there? Not enough, when spread out across the US. How long would the Marines last if the people who supply them with food, pay, and supplies were targeted for assassination? In a true civil war, ANYBODY supporting or supplying the enemy side would be a target. Not just uniformed troops, but the little old ladies handling the supply invoices too.
A true civil war would be a war of Left versus Right, and would be fought in the neighborhoods. The loud Leftist activist would be hunted down, his house set on fire at 3am, with he and his family being gunned down as they tried to get out.
The left controls the information... didn’t work to well when Trump was elected and it’s obviously minor since everything they say is a lie to begin with.

You point to things about our military that can be exploited in an internal conflict. It’s big, bureaucratic, expensive to put soldiers in the field. It would be more vulnerable inside it’s own country than a foreign one because it depends on the infrastructure of its homeland. Who will pay for and man this behemoth with their country so divided, and factions willing to disrupt commerce and its own infrastructure? Our military is very effective in foreign wars. This is different than a foreign war.
It won't be like in the movies or some video game where you get too start over. You'll need the mind set that to kill in cold blood is good ,and don't dwell on the killing , think of it like swatting a mosquito or stepping on a cockroach

They can drop precision bombs against the ideological leadership. Then what? What happens when anybody in the neighborhood who is seen as supporting those who dropped the bomb can't leave his house to go to work, without being gunned down in his driveway?
And what happens in the military bases when riflemen shoot out the power lines supplying their electricity, and sabotage their water supply?
