How many USMC rifle companies are there? Not enough, when spread out across the US. How long would the Marines last if the people who supply them with food, pay, and supplies were targeted for assassination? In a true civil war, ANYBODY supporting or supplying the enemy side would be a target. Not just uniformed troops, but the little old ladies handling the supply invoices too.

A true civil war would be a war of Left versus Right, and would be fought in the neighborhoods. The loud Leftist activist would be hunted down, his house set on fire at 3am, with he and his family being gunned down as they tried to get out.

That's not what will happen here. There won't be two clear sides, two clear leaders, two different uniforms. It'll be a multitude of various factions of left-wing, right-wing, libertarians, Christians, anarchists, end-of-timers, various marauders and opportunists, and then groups of men who just want to rob and rape.
