To kick it off.
Anyone know what it feels like to be told you will be shot one by one?
We have our House up for Sale.
Contemplating which Free State my Wife will agree to move to.
I’m just a FReeper behind Enemy Lines, as is FR come to think of it.
Sixty Years living in CA and I barely recognize The Golden State.
What a wonderful post!!! Thanks for posting it. Very thoughtful and loving! You rock!!! :D
Understandable. Life is so much better when you love where you live.
>>>I am so glad youre safe. So, in CA, if you shoot someone in self-defense with a handgun without license, YOU go to jail?<<<
Not in your Home (yet), but if you do not have a CCW Permit (which are rarer than finding a Unicorn Breeder) in most major Metropolitan Areas, they will hang you by your Heels.
God forbid they find any Trump Merchandise when they tear your House apart looking for evidence of your defending yourself was a Hate Crime.
I carry Pepper Spray since at my Wife’s insistence since my “TRUMP 45” Vanity License Plates make me a Target.
You can’t get a CCW in Los Angeles. There are not many small towns in California that give out CCW licenses. None of the big cities do. Unless you are advising illegal carry. Better than being killed, but here in California, if you get pulled over for a headlight out, you MUST tell the Cop you are carrying, and then you will be a lifelong felon for illegal firearm.
Is that worth it? I don’t think so. California is not the rest of America where you have the RIGHT to carry a firearm, as in 45 of the 50 States. California is a communist bastion where our totalitarian masters want 100% control, including the insurance that the sheeple are disarmed.
You can’t get a CCW in Los Angeles unless you are rich, connected, a politician, an actress, or own a business that handles a lot of cash or expensive merchandise. And even then, a lot of those business owners still can’t get a CCW. Now if you are a politician or a celebrity, then our totalitarian rulers roll out the red carpet for you to be armed.
Average US citizens in California need not apply for Constitutional protections of their 2nd Amendment rights.
Respectfully, I don’t have ANY stickers on my car and certainly wouldn’t put Trump 45 plates on my car since I know what liberals are like.
And it sounds like your home town needs a strong person to stay if it will have any hope of getting better :)
Thank God you made it out Ok.
Prayers for comfort :)
Yes, I was robbed at gunpoint in a lonely place in a city where I then lived. A man stuck a gun in the car window as I in my car paused behind a McDonald’s, having gone to the drive-though window, and waiting to exit onto a side street. It does not compare to the peril of your situation; however; it was very frightening as a mother who feared being carjacked/raped/murdered and never seeing my small child again.
Fortunately, God had prepared me for the encounter in the most miraculous way, providing the scripture in my daily devotional booklet that morning, “If a man asks for your coat, give him also your cloak.”
I avoided eye contact, but spoke to the man calmly, with great respect and concern for his well-being, and offered him my bag of food as well as all the money I had in my wallet and the car’s ashtray (parking meter quarters), and I blessed him and forgave him. He said, “Shut up, lady,” and I said, “There is no one watching right now. Get away now while you can without being seen”and he left me.
After making a police report, I came down with pnemonia from the shock and was sick for 6 weeks. So my advice to you is not to underestimate the stress you experienced; go to the doctor right away and have your health monitored for the next couple of months.
Sweet BunnySlippers - this kindness might be the very thing that convinced him it was safe to finally give up. Bless you.
That’s what everyone who sees them says.
I’ve had them on the Car for almost two Years. Only had one “episode” with a crazed Mexican dude when I was buying Gas at Costco months ago. Other than that I have met some great people and have had many great conversations because of those Plates.
I still laugh when I’m sitting at a Traffic Light, look in my rear view Mirror and see someone taking a Cell Phone Picture. (touching your Phone while Driving, even when stopped in traffic is a big no-no that you are fined for).
Where I live People keep on the down low about supporting the POTUS, so when they see my Car they feel vindicated (I think - LOL).
I was thinking abut taking them off after the Election but I changed my mind. Now that things seem to be getting very heated and the “tolerant compassionate” Liberal Masks are off, my Wife is getting concerned.
As for me, I’m 6’2” / 245, I’m old, I have Leukemia and I don’t give a Rat’s behind. I’m also worth more dead than alive. Let them make speaking my mind a problem. #;^)
Cat, you’re a real American! Aiding someone just because its the right thing to do.
I salute you sir!
I missed this last night. Was out most of the day.
Sounds like you had a very harrowing experience. So sorry to hear that, but I’m glad I’m hearing it from you and that you are still with us.
Thank you for your report. I hope that you will be able to let go of this and live your life in peace.
I’m sure each of our Free Republic forum participants feel the same way.
All the best to you.
Prayers for you!
Amen.
We went to our local Trader Joe’s this morning on the way home from church, now I am reading of your dreadful experience. Prayers for your healing and I am glad that you showed such bravery and piece of mind. I hope you get your keys and your car soon.
Sending cyber hugs and prayers of thanksgiving that you are OK. I have been through something similar back in the 80s. Take it easy for several months and let you mind and body process the experience while you pamper yourself.
It is Silverlake. I was born there.
Yes, there was even a 91-year old man lying on the floor of Trader Joes as well! This monster, this monster. Praying his grandmother pulls through. And praying for BunnySlippers to process and get through this shock.
he was shaking and shivering from having been shot several times .... so, since I was right next to him, I kept pulling uphils jacket to keep him warm.
No linkee, no lookee.
