If the Blue Wave becomes a reality in November and the Republicans get massacred in the mid-terms, the reason for this will be Trump signing the gargantuan 1.3 billion dollars omnibus spending bill last Friday. By signing that piece of legislation, the POTUS made his biggest mistake in his young presidency. Cue Homer Simpson voice: his biggest mistake, so far!
Besides the depressing fact that the GOP spending package will create a huge deficit in 2018 (almost a trillion dollars), next year it will add another trillion to US national debt, which means that we keep on spending money like theres no tomorrow, just like Barry Obama did during his 2 terms in office. It is projected that our national debt will reach and surpass 23 trillion dollars in 2019, and these are Greece like debt levels. And the most depressing thing is that were sitting on a Republican made/owned debt bomb, as the GOP controls everything: both houses of the Congress and the Presidency.

The economy is growing at an increasing rate.
That growth will counter a portion of the excess budget.
Keep dreaming and maybe your dreams will come true. In the real wodld however Trump has no worries

The concern troll is off by a factor of 1,000.
IMHO he picked the best available option that the scumbag congressional repubs provided.
What I hope he does is find ways to reallocate the money, or plain just not spend it chalking it up to reducing GVT waste, fraud and abuse.
Just because they wrote out a big check to Trump...doesn’t mean the money will be spent. He might shock a bunch of people by ordering each department to return 5-to-10 percent of their budget.
Yes, thats the ticket. Democrats will do much better. /sarc
Nice time to realize this.
When faced with such a dilemma, do the right thing.
A few things. One, people are completely numb to deficit figures. Most can’t wrap their heads around it and the amount of disinformation surrounding it is enormous. Two, what Trump signed was a spending bill, not a budget. This is nothing more than a larger than normal CR.....so the pols don’t have to do the govt shutdown dance for a while. Further, this authorizes spending. It does not mean the money will actually be spent. Obama had broad ability to spend the money any way he likes. So will Trump and his team. He knows this.....nothing really gets past him and some members of his team are really good.
IWB is one of those blogs where the authors get stupider over time. That almost seems difficult, but it is seen also among commenters on FR.
SOME WILL!...........................
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!................
I’m wondering whether Trump is hedging his bets in anticipation of a blue wave, and hoping that not engineering a shutdown over the wall creates enough goodwill that the Dems leave him alone so he can walk in Arnold’s footsteps. Meaning give the Democrats everything they want, run as a moderate Republican in 2020 and hopefully win re-election.
As much as I think Trump should have vetoed, if Rs lose congress it will be because
* they gave Trump another Omnibus bill - when’s the last time they even made an effort to do appropriations the right way?
* they talked “repeal and replace” until they got into power. Where’d that promise go?
* confirmations ...
* immigration, wall,...
Sure we’d be worse with Pelosi/Schumer, but how can anyone get excited about another majority R congress? What’s their biggest “success” since they took the house, then the senate, then the WH? They can’t run on accomplishments and any promises are not credible. That would be true even if Trump had vetoed the omnibus.
...Trump signing the gargantuan 1.3 billion dollars omnibus...
Will changing my screen name help? LOL.
No, that would require a ‘defeatist’ attitude.
He does not function that way................
