If you have been wanting to purchase a Slidefire, Bumpfire or similarly related stock because of recent events in the US you may have tried searching online. One of the most popular sites where people buy, sell and research pricing for products related to the firearms industry is Gunbroker.com among others. If you have been finding it difficult to find much, if any at all on Gunbroker, there is a reason why.
Many users who were attempting to sell their Slidefire stocks received a message worded as such today around roughly 6:00 PM Central Standard Time:
Dear Gunbroker User,
The Management of Gunbroker.com has made the decision to no longer allow listings of Bump/Slide Fire stocks or similar items on the site. All existing listings have been removed without winning bidders. Please do not relist these items.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Thank you,
The Management of Gunbroker.com
This is quite the statement Gunbroker is making by doing this. One individual who was selling his/her rifle on Gunbroker and received that exact message stated:
Well this sucks my AR Bumpfire rifle was up to $960 then this happened
To protect the privacy of the individual that this happened to, he/she will not be named. Their sentiments are very understandable considering no notice was given to Gunbroker users.
This is not a lone individual that has been affected either. If you jump onto Gunbrokers own forum and start digging into Slidefire discussions people are talking about the newly developing ban on Slidefires.
It will certainly be interesting to see if this is a decision that Gunbroker continues to uphold or if their position changes in this now very tumultuous firearm environment.
You know, a lot of people seem to think the NRA is a bastion of support for the Second Amendment, but the more I see the more I'm convinced that they're all talk and absolutely fine with gun-control: after all every time something like this happens they send out massive e-mail and physical mail ads crying for donations while ginning up on the Democrats are going to pass gun-control!!
message… it's like the Republican party and repealing obamacare
or fiscal responsibility
or fighting abortion
, all talk and apparently only for riling up their base.
I remember that Cheaper than Dirt went squishy at some point back during the Obama years and the response from customers was less than positive.
Don’t know if they ever recovered as I never went back.
Gunbroker has reconsidered it’s position as stated below.
“Initial reaction from the industry was that support of bump stocks was PR disaster. However, the industry and NRA have softened their stance and asked regulators and Congress to make a decision as to whether or not these items are legal. As a result we have changed our position to allow the items to be sold as long as they are sold in full compliance with state and local laws.
As a seller you should be aware that bump stocks / slide stocks are not firearms and are almost certainly not protected by the Protection in Lawful Commerce of Arms Act (PLCAA). This means that if you choose to sell these items and get sued over their use or misuse, you will not have the PLCAA to protect you.”
Pretty much it’s a waste of ammo since you’re spraying all over the place. Well aimed semi-auto fire is much more accurate although slightly slower. Bump stocks are just a gimmick. I go to the range with the folks on somewhat of a regular basis and have seen the difference.
With that picture there you could almost make one. I’m sure 3D printers are already doing it.
“....You know, a lot of people seem to think the NRA is a bastion of support for the Second Amendment, but the more I see the more I’m convinced that they’re all talk and absolutely fine with gun-control: ... it’s like the Republican party ... all talk and apparently only for riling up their base.”
I suspect your assessment is very correct. NRA is as much a political being as it is an advocate for gun owners or firearm safety. Their relationship with peer level opposition might be more like opposing lawyers in court. After the verdict opposing sides still don’t speak to each other but the lawyers meet for lunch.
“I get better results off of Armslist. Probably sell five to one what I do on Gunbroker.
Now that I know theyre a bunch of p**sies I might stop altogether.”
Its amazing the number of cowards there are. When the going gets tough that flushes them out. No more Iwo Jimas or D days for us.
With all the gadgetry that is devised for both the AR and AK family of firearms, I am sure glad that we lever-action lovers do not attract that kind of attention!!
Sure, they don’t have the same rate of fire!
Sure, they don’t chamber AR or AK family rounds, unless you a Savage 99!
And, of course, they don’t hold the same number of rounds in the tube magazine!
But! They do come in pistol, and heavier than .35Rem calibers, and still look just as cool as when John Wayne had one in “Stagecoach”, or James Stewart in “Winchester ‘73”, or Robert Duvall in “Lonesome Dove” with his Henry.
Though it ain’t an AR or AK, would you prefer to be ‘hit’ by a .45-70, instead?
I would NOT!
There was a casino hotel fire in Altantic City back in the early 1980’s, maybe 35-40 died and before that litigation was over they were sueing the fabric companies that made the fabric that topped the table games.
Anyone that might be pulled into litigation bhere will be, if for no other reason than to shake them down for an early settlement. You want your company mentioned in ongoing litigation or might you pay $500k to see this go away. It’s up to your insurer.
Ultimate, this might be a demand of there insurer, this or a 30% policy increase.
Got to hand it to the MSM, they hold the patent on that old philosophy "divide and conquer" and our own party falls for it time and time again......
Harriet: "Who we going after today?"
Larry: "I'm not sure, I think it's the NRA"
Harriet: "Then why are we going after them?"
Larry: "I'm not sure but they certainly don't represent me and what my purist attitude is towards firearms"
Harriet: "Oh, OK......Could you please relight my torch?"
With only the weapon and no other device, I can bumpfire any semi auto long gun in my bare hands. Kid stuff.
But, of course, if the elites say I should not have a BFS, then, I want to have one. Viva BFS! See how that works? :-)
It would take a bit of training to effectively and sfatly use the binary, but I can see it happen.
It only took a little bit of training and practice to get used to the striker fired handguns that I use and carry.
Not to mention how one can easily (And quite illegally) make their own auto sear.
But like I said earlier. Semi auto rules the battlefield.
I wouldn’t want one, but I’m not about to let my personal tastes dictate what others should or can have.
EWWW! My spelling was atrocious up there! Sorry!!
I need another martini so it can get worse!
;-)
For good or bad the writing is on the wall for these products, hope these two companies have additional product line to stay in business.
“My buddies all had semi-autos. Even on the fast shots I was still better than them. As I recall they shot pretty quickly just with their fingers.”
When I was 14 or 15 I allegedly hypothetically tore up a nice little 22 semi auto by (hypothetically) converting it to full auto. It couldn’t handle the rate of fire and (allegedly) tore up the extractor and stove piped after about 30 rounds. (Hypothetically)
“I am sure glad that we lever-action lovers do not attract that kind of attention!!
What? Sixty years ago Lucas McCain was the lever-action bumpfire Rifleman of his day!
Go look at the 1958 intro: fourteen rounds in a coupla seconds. Count ‘em!
