It is the attitude, but it is not just that. I came of age in the late 1970s. College age women were, on average, a lot better looking then. Now, too many of them look like shapeless, sexless entities. Yes, there are still some that are very good looking, but they are definitely in the minority. As an older white male, I would not even go out with many—even if you paid me.

In my youth, I did really not like Asian women. But they seem much more appealing than American women these days.

I think it really comes down to whether one loves God or not.

You got. The fembots whine no matter what, but the root of their discontent is the fact that they're so personally undesirable.

In love but free to roam.

Good deal for you both.

I have an uncle who married and divorced three times before finding the right one. His marriage to her occurred in 1993, and they were Saved, as the vernacular goes, in 1997. They’re still together to this day.

So marriage shouldn’t necessarily be out of the question.

That's it.

Go ahead and marry anyway, IMO. If nothing else, you’ll please God, right?

Excellent book by Dr. Helen Smith, the psychologist wife of "Instapundit" Glenn Reynolds:

Men on Strike: Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood, and the American Dream - and Why It Matters

No male bashing.

A friend of mine got divorced a few years ago and you cannot believe the absolute hell on earth he had to go through to see his kids, $225,000 in lawyer fees alone not to mention his wife cleaning him out. His wife is a total psychopath who was accusing him of everything under the sun without a shred of evidence and the Judge was siding with this lunatic. The courts are so bias against men it’s insane.

I'm a female, and have been married only once and have two sons. I divorced in 1979, and neither son has heard from their father in years. They learned early in their lives never to count on him being around. I told my two sons when they were young, if they didn't want to get married, and have children, that was fine with me. But, if they ever decided to get married, and have children, to remember it was a lifetime commitment.

Neither son has married, both are straight, and have had live-in girlfriends through the years. My oldest never wanted to marry, own a home, or have children. He's felt that way since he was in highschool. I told him then, that he should expect to go through a lot of women, because at least back then, most women wanted the security marriage, and having a family. He's 50 now. His last serious relationship ended about 8 or 9 years ago, mainly because he didn't want to get married. I can totally understand the girl's point of view. He tried dating for a while, but is at a point in his life where he enjoys his solitude, and privacy, and not having to work at keeping a relationship going.

My youngest son, age 46, lives in another state, and has a live-in girlfriend that I met last summer. I like her, and if she can put up with my son, more power to her. They've discussed getting married, but are not in any hurry.

Basically, I just want them both to be happy in their lives, and if that means not being married, or having children, I'm okay with that.

Another datapoint about more marriageable women than men.

How wonderful!

Married twice. Once when 16 and he was 28. I matured beyond him by 23. He was a nice man, in retrospect I probably should have stayed married to him.

My second was a wonderful man with a terrible secret. Took 20+ years for it to come out.

Marriage or even a love will never be in the picture for me.

So I have a billion things to do, and many people to care about.

" available women my age are mostly fat, look like men."

Once they get the mannish short "sensible" haircut, permed into plastic, you know it's all over.

For a man with prospects of prosperity getting married is a huge risk. One day he may well come from a hard day at the office and find out he owns nothing, owes $80K in credit card bills he didn’t know he had and doesn’t have 3 children any more and, of course, no wife, the front door lock is changed and a process server hands him a summons. No. I haven’t been there but two old friends have been through variations of that particular mill.

Half of all marriages end in economic ruin, emotional chaos and social dislocation. The other half end in divorce.
