Donald Trump states in Pittsburgh he will bring back Pittsburgh's coal industry, clean coal. And also he will bring back Pittsburgh's steel industry.

While I can see the coal industry helped by rolling back nobamas destructive policies, I have some trouble seeing how he will bring back the steel industry. Is he planning to prop it up with government subsidies, put tariffs and surcharges on Chinese steel to make Pittsburgh steel companies and their union employees competitive?

I keep hearing how Trumps not a politician, but he sure as hell has the campaign promises part down pat!

The steel industry here started collapsing in the late 70's. By the end of Reagan's first year in office it was pretty much gone. That was 35 yrs. ago. The bulk of those experienced guys are now retirement age, or darned close to it.

Tariffs only serve to protect businesses that cannot compete and end up costing the consumer more.

An across the board tariff of 20% wouldn't specifically target anything.
