He can always get the SC to prosecute Cruz and the superPACs after he wins :)
I agree with a lot of that, but why go after Walker so hard after he dropped out since the guy had three or so tough elections to stay in there.
I rather get Trump, but just as Cruz Talked New York values, Trump went overboard on Walker criticism and voters made him pay some IMO.
Cruz mostly wins the exclusively white states (home state Texas excepted); Trump does better with mixed demographics. Also Wisconsin is about as far from our southern border as you can get.
It’s over and done and Cruz is about to get shellacked in the next 5 or so states.
Did you read that Wisconsin exit poll where 34% of the Republican voters said they will never vote for Cruz, or Trump?
34%!!
Wisconsin. The bastion of the Republican Establishment machine. 34%! Yikes.
They vote Cruz to get a contested Convention to nominate their native son, Paul boy Ryan. Mr. Open Borders himself.
Mr. Give Obama Everything He Asked For.
I have not seen anyone say that, where are you getting this crap?
I guess your idea is to post something ridiculous that nobody has said and then argue against it.
Trumps ceiling is 45% maybe.. With just him and Cruz Cruz will come out on the winning side every time.. Better ground game and he knows the RULES!
The author is an a$$. My daughter returned after stints ib DC, cinncy, and Charlotte. She worked at Rand Corp and has a masters in public health. Her family loves it hear and would never leave. Both her grade school kids (boy and girl) play ice hockey.
Wisconsin is a wonderful place to live.
Wisconsin was an anti Trump vote and not a for Cruz vote. I agree that Trump’s anti Walker comments didn’t go over well.
Foreign trade deficits is the biggest factor in loss of middle class manufacturing jobs. NAFTA is the reason factories keep moving to Mexico. TPP will be more toxic in future middle class manufacturing jobs because wage levels in many Asian countries are even lower than Mexico. Senator Cruz voted to facilitate passage of TPP also known as Obamatrade. Cruz's Billionaire sugar daddy's are his real bosses, not the voters.
Let’s have Trump go into the convention with 47% of the delegates, Cruz with 42%, and let the chips fall where they may.
A smart young guy like Cruz might choose to throw in with Trump in exchange for an extremely valuable point of conservatism that makes Cruz a shoe-in down the road.
Wisconsin is a great place, this author is fulla crap. That said, when I lived there in the 80s, I did notice it was much more “purple” than other midwestern states I’d lived in. A buddy who taught in the UW system said it was because of the union presence and how much of the ag business depends on gummint regulation (i.e. dairy). The feeling was that many don’t like it but supporting the more liberal pols was in their self interest. Also pretty highly taxed - when I went from Minnesota to Wisconsin it felt like I got a raise. And the same when I moved from Wisconsin to Illinois.
Bttt
I myself wouldn't attribute "all those votes for Cruz" to Wisconsin provincialism.
I think these voters were FULLY cognizant of Cruzs pitiful prospects going forward nationally.
That's because I think that a lot of the Cruz voters in certain counties were Democrats. :)
Wisconsin has an open primary, and the Democrat party has a big problem. Sanders and Clinton are beating the stuffing out of each other.
I suspect that to gain the party some breathing room, orders came down for the WI big city machines to deliver for Cruz.
It's not illegal, it's not vote fraud - it's just a cross-over vote.
Waukesha County, Wisconsin: 2016 Cruz 75123 Trump 27186 Kasich 18521 total: 120830 Sanders 26339 Clinton 24784 total: 51123 2016 total: 171953 2012 Romney 51329 Santorum 23874 other 7489 total: 82692 Obama 9442 total: 9442 2012 total: 92134 2008 McCain 28160 Huckabee 13926 other 1313 total: 43399 Obama 37662 Clinton 34009 total: 71671 2008 total: 115070Fascinating numbers. Note the 20,000 disappearing Democrats from 2008 to 2016. :)
Also note that Cruz, a social conservative, wins YUGE over supposed "squish" Trump. Whereas in 2012 & 2008, the squishes Romeny & McCain stomp the stuffing out of social conservatives Santorum & Huckabee.
Did Waukesha County suddenly get religion? Not hardly...

Lets forget Wisconsin and Utah now and move on. Looking backwards wont help, let’s look forward and learn from it. Listening to Trump on Long Island a night back shows it’s clear he has. That county in WI is the same as the southeast of Iowa, the northeast of Virginia, coastal South Carolina, greater Salt Lake City. There’s no way those peeps are voting for HRC or Bern. It’s over. Move on.
It was a small potatoes state that Trump was supposed to lose. All media hype and much ado about a nothing candidate. All this help and Cruz still can’t get any momentum going??? SAD
No? Bet on trends! Trump continuing down, Cruz trending up. In campaigns, momentum is everything.
Trump was smart enough in early States (except Iowa) to get bots to vote early before the Wilder effect set in and voters began see through the Fabulous Wall, tough guy, everyone else is a liar Carnival Pitchman BS.
Trump will have to win 90% of remaining delegates to hit 1237. His % trend has been going down and is now around 35% in each Primary.
