I am a Trump supporter but I would like to know if Cruz's comments about Chicago changed the mind of any of his supporters. Is it A) no difference I still support Cruz B) I am rethinking my support for Cruz C) I am now going to support another candidate or not voting?
I started out as a Cruz supporter. Then switched to a Trump/Cruz team now Cruz is history in my book. GO TRUMP GO
After Iowa, I saw him as a slick distrustful typical politician.
Spot on mate!!
I’m angry as hell at Cruz. I watched the interview. He sounds like he is taking advice from Jeb Bush and has become just as tone deaf. To blame Trump for leftist violence and intimidation is beyond despicable.
Speaking at a press conference, Cruz told reporters he thinks a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment [of violence]. When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates.
I don't disagree with that statement one bit. It does not excuse the violence, but it does state the obvious. If you stand at the podium and say, Id like to punch him [a disruptor] in the face, I tell ya. [Donald Trump, Las Vegas, NV, 22 Feb, 2016] you are inviting your crowd to engage in violence.
When asked about how a disruptor at a rally in November was beaten and choked, Mr. Trump's response was Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing”. That is inviting your crowd to engage in violence.
When you do that, and keep doing it, someone is going to engage in violence.
So, to answer your question, no it has not changed my opinion of Mr. Cruz one bit.
Are there Ted Cruz supporters here on Free Republic?
How many?
What are their home addresses?
Cruz needs to send them donation requests.
He needs money to pay off Glen Beck for all the wonderful work he’s doing on behalf of Ted Cruz.
Cruz is being bankrolled and supported by the very establishment wing of the GOP that we’re all trying to bring down. Sorry if you hardcore Cruz supporters can’t accept the truth about him. The man is owned and in the back pocket of the globalists.
You and Medved are birds of a feather lol. So what will you do when Yeb! or romney winds up being the repubs candidate?
Here is the Cruz quote from the dailymail.co.uk:
Speaking Friday, Cruz also said that Trump had created an environment of violence.
He said: ‘When you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that’s facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord.’
It did not turn me completely from Cruz, but it is an incredible misstep.
It is beneath Cruz. It makes Donald Trump more acceptable.
It validates the violence of the leftist mob to silence dissent.
lol
Hi Cruz supporters,
Heidi need your Bank account number and trust funds.
Send her info ASAP.
You all deserve each other.
Cruz IS dead nuts.
Fixed it for you and your 1st amendment killing candidate. A constitutional scholar my ass!
“You might want to post Cruzs statement. It cuts down on the BS just a bit. Unfortunately, only a bit.”
You should be just as concerned with what Ted didn’t say. Think about it.
A
I agree, politics have been seriously degraded with the reality show mentality. The way you have been treated on this thread is a good example of the new violence as a first resort style of discussion.
Starting fires instead of discussing policy, then whining about smoke in your eyes is so Trump.
The problem Ted has is reason is no longer fashionable or ever possible with a large segment of the population. In order to understand what Ted said, one would have to comtemplate the meaning of his words, so much easier to get outraged.
But what Trump is riding to the polls is a horse named Rage.
Yes! I will never vote for any of the stooges. They all took cheap shots.
Hillary? Cruz? Rubio? Kasich? Dems? GOPe?
Principles?
You should put some ice on that.
keep calling us dumb..
Nothing I say is going to change your mind and frankly that’s fine..
Up until today I would have crawled over broken glass for Cruz in November - now, that will never happen, ever.. This is a huge betrayal.
I expect this out of Rubio/Kasich and all the liberals + Media..
Cruz? Unreal completely unreal...
A) no difference I still support Cruz
I just sent him another check.
