A 12-METRE monolith, hacked out of limestone by stone-age humans some nine thousand years ago, has been found at the bottom of the Mediterranean.
The enormous stone totem, now split in two and sitting in the Sicilian Channel between Tunisia and Sicily, was hewed from a rocky outcrop some 300m away when the Mediterranean Sea was still a dry basin.
Its now under 40m of water.
The new study, published in the Journal of Archaeological Science, says the area was submerged about 9350 years ago (give or take 200 years) when the last Ice Age retreated. Before that time the area was believed to be something of an archipelago, with a string of islands linking Europe to North Africa via a shallow sea...,.

Archeology is consistently pushing the date(s) of various previously unknown cultures/civilizations back in time. This article overlooks some additional discoveries worldwide which also indicate a much older time line (Puma Punku, Original Sphinx before Pharoah head)
What is needed now is a coherent theory as to why these cultures/civilizations disappeared and our species spent perhaps thousands of years in recreating the abilities/skills that are demonstrated by these ‘surprise’ finds.
And totally uncivilized, by the look of it — seems like they were working on this sorry bit of rough quarrying when the water came up. ;’)
I’d like to see a large conference among all the mainline schools of thought that would focus on the alternate theories and come up with a new explanation that takes these discoveries into account.
One man against the tide is meaningless and he’s called a kook until absolute proof emerges as the majority have their entire careers tied up in the current time line.
I remember reading something interesting regarding Egypt and Mu, (which btw was located in the Pacific and was about 5K miles long by 3K miles high). In Upper Egypt the peoples believed they came from the West, (which they did from Atlantis via South America and Mu), while the folks in Lower Egypt believe they came from the east, (which they did through INDO-asia and Burma via Mu. Fascinating..
I will have to take a further look at the columns in Golbecki-Tepe to see if the pictograph carved on those columns bear any symbols that might be related to Mu, according to Churchyards book.
He makes regular appearances at various conferences, but most of the conferees are at least a little “out there”.
At that time they should not have been able to drill holes with that precision according to current thinking.
.
That’s why we need mainline “in there” guys to at least consider the evidence of a different timeline for our past history.
Cycles are a possibility, fueled by cataclysmic events such as asteroid hits and/or climate change. We seem to be OK with that type of scenario with other species such as the dinosaurs, but reject it for humans. For humans we insist on a straight line of progressive evolution—and that seems particularly ego driven
We may have had a peak, a break down, and now a peak up with still more to go (we hope)
The Sea Peoples are a modern invention; there are two references to them in Egyptian contemporary records, which are misdated by centuries anyway. The Sea Peoples left no towns, no distinctive burials, armor, weapons, rulers (including conquerors of the lands they supposedly conquered), written records in their own right, and perhaps most significantly, no wrecks -- the last one being pretty damned peculiar for a massive group of seagoing conquerors.
So that ice age went on so long people were building in lower areas unaware water was once there and would come back.
Seems to mean to me that ice ages, even mini ones went as long as a few human lifetimes.
