“Limitless Free Energy”

Bullshit.

Interesting article and Tesla was certainly a genius but the writer ruins it with a couple of wild statements about freeing us from big oil and “free energy”.

The Engineering & Science Hall of Fame (I'm a trustee) inducted Tesla in 2011, primarily for his invention of alternating current.

With all due respect to Tesla, he DID NOT invent the laser.

Tesla’s ideas about wireless communication may be the way around the clampdown that is coming for the internet. The engineers need to get cracking. What the hell? If “dark energy” is a real thing then it can be used by man. We just have to figure out how. If it is real it can be harnessed if society doesn’t subside into an Islamist/Communist Dark Age too soon.

Tesla gave up patents in order to promote AC. Gave up personal wealth to promote AC as a matter of principle.

I read IIRC Wizard one of his bios. He lived in a hotel and died in his room. The hotel took one of his models as collateral. When he died a day later navy intelligence took his documents and the model from the hotel.

Tesla had tried to sell the US Navy on the idea that electrical waves could strop an invading Navy or air force. Now we have heard of impulse bombs which could wipe out our electrical system.

The guy was amazing and i don’t know why more people don’t know about him.

Tesla didn’t “invent” AC power, it was a natural product of any spinning dynamo. However, there was no way to use it in the 1870s.

Tesla invented the AC induction motor, with the brilliant “rotating magnetic field”, but more importantly, the unseen elements of the modern electrical distribution systems - generators, transformers, regulators, arrestors, the whole 3-phase (polyphase) AC distribution system.

But for his work with tubes, he always gave credit for his inspiration to Crookes.

Plus, don’t forget he was also a first-class mechanical engineer - the Tesla Turbine being a notable example.

Other than the author’s anti-capitalist screed, sprinkled throughout (and Tesla was a happy capitalist, at the peak of his career—with backing by very big money (Edison’s backers just happened to be bigger))...very interesting.

Number 6 - electric motors.
This is all we have from magnetism? All the great gains with the other technologies and very little advancements with the use and applications of magnetism. It makes me wonder why is that.

Regardless of his eccentricities he was brilliant, that is for sure.

Also did a lot of work in my hometown, Colorado Springs, so we consider him a local.

This article is excellent. Sure FREEPERS will quibble with some details but the list itself is staggering, even if it is really only 9 items.

So much pseudoscientific bilge.

So little time.

Remote control? Bullcrap, not invented by Tesla. Look up J.C. Bose, who had remote control and more (on 60 GHz!) working in the late 1880's.

"Free energy source"?

Come on.
