If it was CBS instead of NBC there would only be 60 Minutes left on the clock ticking down on Brian Williams.
So before they select his replacement I thought it might be helpful if we weighed in with our preference for the new face of NBCs Nightly News. Its a shame that Joanie Rivers left us so soon, as she would have been my hands down favorite.
Instead of thinking what everyone else was saying: how refreshing.
So Little Mo and I have rounded up the rest of the usual suspects for your consideration. Please review carefully and then cast your vote(s) for the reader that youd most like to see fill Brians heroic shoes.
Here, in alphabetical order, are our candidates:
"This is Ted Baxter wishing you goodnight... and good news."
As the long time news reader at WJM-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota Ted practically invented good natured journalistic incompetence. So hes definitely got the chops and, Id say, the look.
Howard has the chops too, butt Im afraid that anger management issue might stand in his way:
And before you say MOTUS, you cant have a cartoon character as the face of NBC Nightly News, think about what youre saying.
- Ron Burgundy
Not only does he have the experience, hes got a history with NBC (SNL). And his two films raked in over $260 million - thats what were talking about!
Another NBC veteran, she already knows what its like to land under sniper fire - and her mom is the next President of the United States! Think what that could do for ratings.
The Millennials first choice, after Twitter, for news. Considered a longshot at this point as hes slated for taking over CBS Late Night news desk from David Letterman.
Its Stephen Colbert without the CBS baggage. Plus, hes got that Mexican thing going for him. Do not write him off.
Katie has spent her long sabbatical from the news getting totally re-groomed in order to once again be the perkiest anchor evah! Kat is now a real cougar again and since she smells blood shes prowling with claws bared stay tuned!
Lesters definitely got Joey B in his camp: "I mean, you got the second mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." Could be a shoo-in.
Old chrome dome has a long history with NBC, plus nothing and I mean nothing - would make the morning crew happier.
Nuff said!
Shes been re-groomed more often than Katy and Madonna put together, butt the results are questionable. And after this critical comment she made about Big Guy: You don't use the word Crusades, number one, in any context right now. It's just too fraught. And the week after a pilot is burned alive, in a video shown, you don't lean over backwards to be philosophical about the sins of the fathers, Im going to have to say shes a very long shot, butt youve got to admire her knee jerk reflex to rein in free speech.
Before you count Less out just because his experience has been exclusively radio up to this point, watch this moving video reportage:
With that emotive ability I think hes got a shot. We havent seen honest empathy like that since Ann Curry was sent packing.
The Millennials second choice for nightly news. And hes not afraid of Bill OReilly; I understand thats what NBC is looking for.
Legacy favorite. Sure shes old, butt at this point what difference does it make? She can be groomed one more time if we need her.
I know I skipped over several others: The Reverend Al, George Clooney, Keith Olberman, Al Gore. Butt theyre all pretty busy doing other pretty important stuff. So cast your vote(s) for your favorites. As always, Chicago Rules apply, because were talking Journ0lists!

Apologies for that link, didn’t work the way I wanted.
Man, that Lester Holt dude look like an android, or a virtual reality dude or a hologram or somethin’... out of a bad scifi movie...
Next target, BRYANT GUMBEL!!!
First time I saw Lester Holt I wondered how the character Data from Star Trek managed to get a tan.
Most of the other anchors are extremely disingenuous, smarmy or outright dishonest.
That idiot airbag punk Bill O'Reilly recently snarked that President Reagan had a low-ranked record of going after terrorists when he cited the US Marine Barracks bombing. That stupid jackass failed to mention when Reagan scrambled the F-14's in response to the terrorists who murdered Leon Klinghoffer on the cruise ship, and he also failed to mention Reagan's very successful response to Libya after the Berlin disco bombing.
O'Reilly, Brian Williams and Jon Leibowitz or whatever the hell his name is and the rest....
To hell with all of those lowlifes.
His attributes are too lengthy to list here, but he'll have no problem whatsoever telling us about them.
To be a little serious, here is what is 10 times worse than Lyin Brian.
He will finally get the heave ho to be replaced by Lying (insert any LibTard talking head), we will be told to “move on”. And the real point will be completely glossed over. Again. The culture of corruption at the networks that is the true reason we have Lyin Brian. The culture of corruption that guarantees another and another and another of the same person with a different name and a different face.
On a lighter note I picked the lead contender..howd y’all do?
Oh Yea Vote at the link
Just found out today that Brian Williams is on the Boaof Directors for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. wonder how that happened?
Should have been Board of Directors
My pick is Al Sharpton.
RESIST WE MUCH!
Maybe I’ll be the first to say this - I won’t be a bit surprised if Tom Brokaw comes back. He is over his cancer from what I read lately, he is outraged and he has some semblance of integrity. It would take someone like him to save NBC news.
Brian Williams has been the least offensive of the whole liberal mainstream media. Sad to see it end up this way.
