Dear Feminists, when did "yes" start to mean "potentially/maybe/definitely no?"

I found this meme while surfing around online, and I'm curious if anyone wants to offer up their take. The term "feminist" is one that is so polarizing it tends to cut right down the left-right divide, but this one has me wondering.

The rationale of people who defend the message this woman presents is that a woman isn't actually saying "yes" in certain instances, such as while under the influence of alcohol...Ok...

This logic reminds me of a quote from British author Paul Johnson (from his book Enemies of Socieity), emphasis is mine...

(I)t is essential to use words accurately and in good faith...beware of those who seek to win an argument at the expense of the language. For the fact that they do is proof positive that their argument is false, and proof presumptive that they know it is. A man who deliberately inflicts violence on the language will almost certainly inflict violence on human beings if he acquires the power. Those who treasure the meaning of words will treasure truth, and those who bend words to their purposes are very likely in pursuit of anti-social ones. The correct and honourable use of words is the first and natural credential of civilized status.

In that light, I think this girl's message is a bunch of crap. All my life so-called feminists have gone on and on about how "no means no" and "yes means yes." Now "no" still retains its very concrete meaning while "yes" gets to be some ambiguous...thing...that can now be a reflection of how a woman feels at any given time?

Basically, what I think is actually being said here is that "feminists" have now reserved the right to claim victim-hood as a way to save face or feel better about buyer's remorse after engaging in consensual sexual activities.

This may seem glib to some people, but I have personally seen the permanent and life-long devastation sexual abuse can bring upon women (or anyone at all) and am very sensitive to such matters. However, this is just too convenient, it brings a whole new meaning to "a woman scorned" and sex crimes should not be debased with such antics.

Women who do this should disclose this belief before dating a man, they'd no doubt find themselves permanently single lest their would-be partners find themselves victim to Johnson's prophecy.

Feminists have long proclaimed that sex with the opposite sex is rape!

the women pour drinks down their own throat and get hammered. the guys are also getting drunk. many of them are getting drunk on purpose. mnpany are also there to hook up with guys and girls.

both hook up but how is it only the guy’s fault? morning after regret isn’t rape. you give a yes and have your drunken fun, you can’t change it to no the next morning.

this would all be moot if we raised kids the way they used to be raised and employed shame, didn’t have government encouraging people to act like base animals, and teaching said crap in Godless govt schools.

But the man that takes her up on it, while under the influence, is definitely still a rapist.

If yes means no while intoxicated. Does the intoxicated male even asking mean he didn’t really ask?

“Feminists have long proclaimed that sex with the opposite sex is rape!”

It becomes rape the next morning when the feminist finds out she just said had sex with a conservative who told her he was a liberal the night before.

. . . this would all be moot if we raised kids the way they used to be raised and employed shame, didn’t have government encouraging people to act like base animals, and teaching said crap in Godless govt schools.

Amen to that.

Plus, it is a proven fact that a guys brain goes numb once enough blood flows into his penis to get a full erection.

Those of us who have been there, done that, and made love thousands of times in our lifetimes can actually tell you that the sexual turn-on switch operates as a direct and opposite reaction to the brain shutdown switch. If you don't believe me, just try to solve even a moderately complicated math problem the next time you have intercourse.

There does not seem to be a similar dynamic in women. Or, if there is, the brain shutdown switch is far less pronounced. Again, if you don't believe me, just arrange for the smallest distraction such as a muffled alarm clock, to go off the next time you make love with your wife or girlfriend (hopefully, the same person). You won't even hear it. She will react instantly.

This isn't sexist, it is just fact. A guy capable of rational thinking while having sex would never have sex.

Since when has anything a women said not carried a statute of limitations beginning the next nanosecond?

“Yes.” “No.” Always subject to change.

If you laid all of the feminists end to end, it would be the best thing that ever happened to them.

A quick examination of the face in that photo tells me the whole “yes/no/maybe” thing is a moot point for me.

i find i can easily be distracted, that isn’t a universal law. a wrong scent/odor will do it.

if you are still in the romance part of relationships - which one night stands would fall into - and things are new - if you both are doing things right, neither side is gonna be able to do a math problem. or want to.

if you’re talking about a seasoned relationship, one or both could be distracted by stuff.

if they are both drunk and both ‘consent’ there is no rape. they are both intoxicated, there’s no way you can say one party is always guilty of’something just because of their gender.

if males and females act like drunk sluts, if one feels stupid and ashamed the next morning that doesn’t mean she gets to cry rape to try and salvage her reputation.

are women intelligent equal beings as men and can make their own decisions, as they tell us we are supposed to treat them and look at them and take them at their word,

or are they not, and we have to treat them likeless than equal becuase we can’t trust their decisions and can’t trust a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ from them?

they choose to drink like men. they choose to get intoxicated in public places. they drink that way to excuse their behavior - the alcohol made me do it. if they can’t belive that lie, they then shift to the guy made me do it.

this is all about shirking normal personal adult responsibility and demanding others are to blame for your remorse/shame/embarrassment when you deliberately absolve yourself from any blame for your own stupid behavior. they are willing participants in their own stupidity.

if we’know’this about women, why are there no laws limiting women to one drink a night? we’know they can’t handle their alcohol, only one drink to prevent thm from this.

you say ‘they are adults you can’t treat them’like children, they can decide how much to drink. if that’s true that’means they can decide when to stop drinking, and they can decide not to have sex with a guy they just met.

but when they decide to do all that, they can’t come backthe next day and cry rape because they are ashamed’they behaved like a slut ahd gave it away.

some say we need bac measurements, we have to know when she loses the ability to make a conscious choice. why are we not doung this with everyone? how’bout tye guy who gets beer goggles and hooks up with an ugly girl, doesn’t he have buyers remorse and shame the next morning for what he did? if he only could’have had some way of knowing when he lost his ability to legally make a choice.

it’s not a one way street here. if women can’lose their legal ability to make choices so can men, if both lose it and they hook up neither is to blame. they are equally idiots and equally share the blame.

i ask where are the friends of the girl who’s wasted, protecting her from her wasted self and all the guys wo are just waiting to rape her? if they are all wasted too, i think that speaks volumes for’females’today. where’s the professonal bartender who’s handing her all those drinks? she kept asking and paying, she’d’scream at the bartender if she got cut off. who is the bartender to stop her drinking, she’s a rown woman and can decide for herself when to stop.

what this all boils down to is women want to make all their decisions and be in charge of themselves, until those decisions backfire on them and then they want to play victim because they can’t handle the fact they behved like a slut. i just got out of hand, a little crazy, the bartender shoulda cut me off, the drunk guy i hooked up with shoulda stopped me and himself even though i was grinding on him, my friends who also got blasted shoulda stopped me when they saw me blitzed and saying i wanted to get with him.

either you’re an adult and equal with guys or you aren’t. women, drink less because you weigh less and can’t handle alcohol like guys. women, hve sodas and water in between drinks ‘or beers. women, don’t lt your friends leave with guys and hook up. ow about all of you deciding beforehand together to specifically NOT get hammered out of your minds and to look after each other and take a gal friend home if she does? try being an adult in the real world.

guys get drunk and have bad things happen and don’t run around trying to rewrite history where they’re the victim.
