My solution is easy. I figure my tax hike pretty much equivalent to the amount of money I throw in the trash on PACs and candidates (I stopped donating to the GOP itself years ago). I am getting out of the money/politics game totally. I have never gotten a single favor or dime of new business or government benefit as a result of my donations anyway. So add the tax hikes and take away the money I’ve been wasting and it is pretty much a break even.
The Republican Party committed suicide last night, they just don’t know it yet.
“Purist”! /s
My wife and I just filed our change of party affiliation document.
The most valuable currency in the political arena is MY vote.
Changing to libertarian this week. Bye bye GOP.
The news media created this false scare tactic called a “fiscal cliff” for that purpose.
Pure as the driven snow, my friend...

Right behind you Salvey, but if we can raise the 16 votes to block Boehner as speaker I’ll be sticking around...
After all that has gone on in the GOP lately some still want to blame conservatives. Obtuse to the extreme.
Paul Ryan may have a ‘great mind’, but he has NO GUTS!!!
He’s more concerned about what ‘image’ than ‘core beliefs’, another ‘Boehner’.
Eric Cantor, although he voted “No”, I suspect it has more to do with ‘Palace positioning’ and ‘smelling the air’ on seeing that Boehner’s head is about to roll, than standing up for ‘conviction’.

The Republican House leadership split its vote late Tuesday night on the fiscal cliff deal that received bipartisan support in both chambers before heading to the president. Speaker John Boehner (Ohio) voted in favor of the measure. But Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) voted against the legislation, as did Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (Ill.). House Budget Committee Chairman
Does Peter Roskam’s future include speaker’s job?

Even Krauthhammer calls the bill a complete surrender (by the Republicans).
OBAMA WON!
Increases are some 41 to 1 over cuts.
OBAMA WON!
Pubblies folded. That is what they do. It is their nature. They cant help it. They just want to be liked by the Dems.
Of course they did.
Anytime a theme emerges and is consistently repeated in the OFM (Obama-fellating media), you can confidently bet that it is designed to stampede the Republicans in a direction to where they can be slaughtered by the Democrats.
Agreed. The GOP is now the Whigs.
We must now set about the difficult work of building a true Conservative opposition party. The Dems will be able to run the table for the next decade or so while we go about that. I just hope there will still be some shred of a country left to save by then.
This ignores the basic problem. The Dem party has devolved into a group that will do anything — anything — to win, including fraud, threats, physical violence, perjury, cheating, theft, gangsterism, and allegedly murder. No matter what form the new opposition to them takes as a result of the suicide of the Republican Party, are we conservatives willing to use the Dems’ tactics against them to level the playing field? It seems to me that our own constitutional characteristics put us at a permanent disadvantage compared to the tactics Obama joyfully uses, with the drooling approval of the Rancid Press.
What are we willing to do to win?
If you have a Republican Party membership card, send it to the RNC with a tea bag attached.
You make a very good point. The GOP insists on being “gentlemanly” and believes that sweet reason will bring the Dems around - while the Dems are out torching anything their flames can reach and ullulating jungle war cries.
I don’t think we should necessarily sink to that level, but one thing we have to do is get the message out more forcefully. I know the media is opposed to the GOP and this makes it more difficult, but that’s because GOPers in general are not willing to become something that the media can’t ignore. That is, they’ve got to kick, scream and howl, instead of holding themselves above the fray and thus becoming invisible. And remember, he who is silent gives consent. So the press, even if they were willing to cover the GOP, doesn’t have anything to cover.
This was the big error of Bush from the very start. He didn’t have to get into the politics of revenge and hatred in which Obama is engaging, but he should have done a lot more to come out and defend himself and challenge his critics. But it seems to be a matter of common consent that a GOPer just lies down and lets them run over him.
