What is the real purpose of birth control? Why is all of this so important to progressives?

With all that's going on with the Catholic Church and the President right now, this has become a huge hot button topic. But why is this so important to progressives? Rush keeps saying that "abortion is the sacrament of liberalism." What makes this so? Let's ask Margaret Sanger. In her book "Woman and the new race", Sanger explains the purpose of birth control:(Page 229)

Birth control itself, often denounced as a violation of natural law, is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defectives. So, in compliance with nature’s working plan, we must permit womanhood its full development before we can expect of it efficient motherhood. If we are to make racial progress, this development of womanhood must precede motherhood in every individual woman. Then and then only can the mother cease to be an incubator and be a mother indeed. Then only can she transmit to her sons and daughters the qualities which make strong individuals and, collectively, a strong race.

Ok, now it makes sense. Birth control is the sacrament of eugenics.

This might be a Flame Request I guess.

The objection to any form of birth control derives from a quaint little middle eastern custom from ancient times. It went something like this: you are a member of a tribe; you are at war with other tribes. If you lose - game over. If you win, you kill all the men, the women, their children, and animals and salt their fields - game over. Either way, you need to grow more people to fight the next tribe - thus ANYTHING that stops new little ‘soldiers’ from being grown is a Bad Thing. Best way to ‘freeze’ this injunction into the culture - stick it into the religion - task over.

Meanwhile, in the Muslim world, men marry multiple women and women give birth to numerous children, each.

In Saudi Arabia, a man with 4 wives may have 40 or more children.

Our oil revenue allows this to continue.

While eugenics plays a part in their thinking, the big reasons that Democrats/liberals/progressive fight for abortion is because of their haughtiness and arrogance and misguided sense of protection for their young. Fewer people means they can have the beach or forest trail all to themselves. Fewer people their children’s age means that there is less competition for their kids. Their kids might be able to make the basketball team after all! Democrats really are completely self-centered. Even their social programs are just means of holding other people down.

Being in control of the lives of others - others who won’t get born who otherwise would.

Not only birth control to reduce the population significantly, but Death Panels, too, to rid the world of us older useless eaters.

They’ve also backed themselves up into a real pickle.

Look at the people who are completely dependent upon the government.
Welfare discourages marriage, so it is usually a single mom - maybe a boyfriend (who is “disabled”) With each child she has - she gets a raise from the government.
These are the kids that need the most special services at the local schools.
These are the families clustered together in town - or a city - making a contribution to the local crime rate.

Even liberals understand (as they like to say) that they cannot encourage infinite “breeding”

So to ease their guilt of creating this underclass and subjecting them to several generations of indignity and dependence...they pat themselves on the back for giving them access to “preventative” care.

Of course. That’s what I meant by forced euthanizations which ranges from Zyklon-B in the showers to the withholding of life-saving medicines and treatments.

I didn’t know much, if nothing at all about her. From what I just read.... Margaret Singer (who seems to be the creator of Planned Parenthood)....she definitely supported ‘negative eugenics’, but not abortion (necessarily).

Sanger’s family planning advocacy always focused on contraception, rather than abortion.[95][note 10] It was not until the mid 1960s, after Sanger’s death, that the reproductive rights movement expanded its scope to include abortion rights as well as contraception.[note 11] Sanger was opposed to abortions, both because they were dangerous for the mother, and because she believed that life should not be terminated after conception. In her book Woman and the New Race, she wrote, “while there are cases where even the law recognizes an abortion as justifiable if recommended by a physician, I assert that the hundreds of thousands of abortions performed in America each year are a disgrace to civilization.”

In other words, she didn’t like the actual taking of life but promoted some weird/racist view of eliminating the ‘weak’ through contraception. Seems the modern movement pivoted about their new views and Sanger’s.

I have been trying to figure out the passion for abortion among progressives (liberals) my whole life.

That these elitists are so oblivious to their own hypocritical elitism will always take my breath away.

I can understand the pro-choice position, what I cannot understand is a *passion* for this practice. Even with the rich Planned Parenthood executives, there isn't that much money for liberals in abortion.

Now, antebellum southerners had social position, wealth, way of life to lose in the abandonment of slavery. Their loyalty to slavery made a certain sense.

What do progressives have to lose? Is abortion a way of life, wealth, social position?

I doubt that i'll ever understand the way that liberals make of abortion a statement of *faith*...blood sacrifice for their way of life?

Birth control is now an expensive entitlement. Conservatives will try to end the entitlement and liberals will be able to beat them bloody over this issue for centuries. Cannot put this genie back into the bottle.

Yes, I know that she opposed abortion...although I wonder if that was a faked position of hers.

But it's not expensive! That's the irony. I don't believe it's about the money.

It's about the power. They don't so much want it paid for, they want us to be beaten into paying for it for their own satisfaction at seeing us enslaved and humbled.

So the First World can keep the Third World from cutting into the resources the First World needs to maintain its lifestyle. It's just another version of "Screw the brown people; if they can't further our objectives by being slaves, they should liberate us from worry by being dead."
