Preppers Ping!
Thanks for the reminder.
I’m not sure what the deal is but my kids seem to make band aids disappear like my wife makes toilet paper disappear. Seems like I always have to buy more. Thanks
Add a 1.5% solution of boric acid. Put in a small spray bottle. Very antiseptic plus it clots blood real fast, forms a crystalline scab. Ammonia for insect bites (stops itching) and spray adhesive for large scrapes.
Could you pleased add me to the “feces impacts the rotating blades” list?
Also, what kind of antibiotic ointment would you recommend? Most of what I see has a shelf life. Is there anything that would last years?
Could be quite handy.
Do you know what the typical options are for local analgesics? Be nice to have something in the event I have to sew something up?
Does anyone on this board have experience with such things? Is it possible to get these antibiotics at an aquarium store? Is it an online only thing? Is it even true that they are a viable substitute for prescription antibiotics?
I do believe that regulations for anitibiotics vary buy state. I have not seen fish antibiotcs in a pet store, but you may try a local feed and tack store (they have antibiotics for a wide range of animals). You can buy them online, I had a friend do it. He got them from CalVetSupply. He used the fish antibiotics for his cats (he raises pricey Persians), instead of the very costly prescription offered by the vet. The fish antibiotics worked, and took care of the cats. There’s no difference between the animal and human versions from what I understand (I have seen many articles written on the topic). I don’t bother with antibiotics in general, because there are so many natural ones that work better (Garlic, for example). I have a limited background in medicine and medical research, and garlic is one of the most powerful antibiotics there are, and anti viral (must be raw, however). I don’t really like the idea of getting the antibiotics wrong, and breeding antibiotic resistant super strains. One messup and your antibiotics may be worthless, as well as a lot of unintended consequences. To each his own though. Just be sure to use them responsibly if you do buy them. You can do an internet search to find people equivalencies (sp), as the doses vary by body weight, antibiotic type, etc.
Here’s the link to the place my friend used:
Safetec makes a antibiotic ointment with a 4 year shelf life which is double that of neosporine.

CVS now carries a silver antibiotic ointment that “protects for 3 days”

Not that I’m a prepper or anything, I just happen to have this site in my favorites.
I have been into survivalism for more than 40 years, and I was glad to see the word prepper come into use but now I’m supposed to use the word “shit”, and mainstream that word into everyday conversation and even internet print and formal use, as a conservative?
You can get a Physicians Desk Reference and a Nurses guide to Drugs on amazon pretty cheaply. They have dosages and other treatment information.
Tea tree oil.
