WALLINGFORD - Joan Zito and her friend Mary Martinelli come to ShopRite on Route 5 once a week to shop for food, paper goods and dog food.
Zito, of Durham, counts on coupons to help her stock up on dog food for the winter and enough paper goods to last a while.
Zito and Martinelli are angry about Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's recent state budget proposal to tax consumers on the full price of items rather than discounted prices....

After all, if you haven't spent it, you obviously don't need it, and it needs to be given to people who pissed theirs away.
How can you be charged sales tax on money you did not spend??
The left believes it is not YOUR money.
Same way they can make you pay taxes multiple times on the same money. Death tax comes to mind.
Beat 'em to it. Bury it in the back yard.
Typical F’n DEMORAT!
It’s not your money , its our money!
Yup. it looses it’s value in the back yard just as fast as it does in the bank.
But Gold/silver/lead/copper.
You never know when you might need all 4.
BUY gold/silver/lead/copper..
Darn fingers.
Fed Chairman Bernanke and his magical money tree (this year's bumper crop is in the trillions, next year's might be quadrillions so bring your wheelbarrow to the harvest) will get its roots even into the most deeply buried money.

You are spot on. Michael Moore actually said that any money you have in a bank account, a mattress, etc. is a national resource and belongs to the state. His wording was amazing. Raw, unadulterated Communism.
Where is McCarthy when you REALLY need him.
but of course the left elites don’t include their money in this.
One thing I am curious about is the wording I see in all the articles about this. There are a lot of items that are never really sold at the “list price”, but the wording seems to imply that not only coupons are affected but just plain sale prices. So, If you go into a car dealership and MSRP is $30,000, but you talk them down to $25,000, do you pay sales tax on the 30. I’m assuming the articles are just poorly written because that would be absolutely ludicrous.
Taxes are charged on the amount of money that actually changes hands. In the case of a coupon, they can claim the company treated it as money. But when there is no coupon, that loophole does not exist.
Hah. NJ taxes people on the full value for FREE items.
Huh? Isn’t that where you can’t pump your own gas?
Can’t pump our own gas but it’s usually the cheapest gas in the tri state area.
Exxon refinery here in Joisey.
Politicians decide you pay, you do not pay they take.
They take anyway, this is about the money only.
Instead of doing what is necessary they will kick the can down the road for next unlucky politician elected.
Hey I have a novel idea /heavy sarcasm
Instead of raising taxes dumbass pols, how about cutting spending.
Cut every program presently funded by 95%.
Politicians does not get re-elected who cares, politician loses the rest of of the citizens have more money.
Problem solved
You know Democrats and hurting the poor..!
