So did hanging facist trash who used their political power to deny rights to a certain race (like our Prez and AG). They also used to execute “insurgents” who committed acts of terror against the Allied occupation forces.

Could you imagine giving 3 hots, a cot, and a copy of Mein Kampf to a Nazi war criminal?

Well, worse yet, the 90% are likely to not just turn over their guns, but provide the names of their “friends” that don’t...

I agree with others here, about the incrementalism aspect. Seeing the vote at Texas A/M was hardly encouraging, where a majority voted against conceal and carry on campus.

“However, I feel sorry for all of the good folks in law enforcement who would get caught up in such a conflagration. “Just following orders” won’t cut it...”

I don’t feel sorry for any that would go down that road. Each and every one of them swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, so they really should know better.

This is really bad stuff, and they are desperate to sweep this under the rug.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this was done by ATF to provide a trumped confirmation of their claim that the Mexican bandidos are relying on US gun purchases to arm themselves. They said guns were being smuggled from America to Mexico, then they aided and abetted the Mexican smugglers to make sure that guns really were being smuggled out of the US.

They set up a straw man then created the circumstance to knock it over. But their stunt appears to be backfiring on them.

My response on that board:

With respect to modern-day need and necessity for firearms ownership, I submit the following: the most fundamental right of all is the right to your own life. All else follows from that.

Here is the Vulcan mind-meld translation of the language of the Left: you have no right to live. By their lights, you are a thing, an animal, or a machine. There’s the last 200 years of leftist philosophy in a nutshell. So I’m with Mike V - I will do my considerable best to kill anyone who attempts to strip me of my means of self defense.

I won't put it in the plural. "If you try to take my weapons, I will kill you. Then I will find whomever it was that sent you, and kill them. I will continue this course of action until I reach the end of your food chain, or I am dead."

+1 This statement alone, and the will to back it up, would have prevented every instance of genocide since the invention of the firearm.

“If you try to take our firearms, we will kill you.”

I would break that down into the following predicates:

  1. The government cannot legitimately disarm the citizenry.
  2. Any agent of government who would attempt to disarm the citizenry would be doing so illegitimately.
  3. A person who illegitimately attempts to take the property of another by force of arms is a robber.
  4. Robbers should be stopped by any and all means necessary.
The original statement sounds like a threat against government agents; my version is a threat against robbers. Government agents would have to decide whether they want to be robbers. If they decide they want to be robbers, they get shot.

Good evening. I hope you are doing well.

"If you try to take my weapons, I will kill you. Then I will find whomever it was that sent you, and kill them. I will continue this course of action until I reach the end of your food chain, or I am dead."

I have always told you that you have a wonderful way with words.

This reasoning is invalid for two reasons: first, the important factor is homicide, not firearms homicide. It doesn't matter to me if I'm killed by a bullet, a knife, or a whack over the head -- I'm dead.

I always liked the Archie Bunker response to the gun control people, "would you feel happier if they were pushed out of buildings?"

Second, the US is ethnically diverse, and most of our homicides are committed by the non-European-descended segments of our population (bringing this up is something the Left will be outraged over). If you look at homicide stats internationally, you see the unsurprising pattern that US ethnic groups with high homicide rates come from places with high homicide rates.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.

Interesting to learn that the media’s disinterest isn’t
all intentional malfeasance. That NPR person has a lot to
learn.

It’s also interesting to see how the NPR person was
entirely accepting of “sting” operations. Shows how much
they appreciate civil liberties. That said, his or her
unapprectiation of the RKBA, aka the 2nd Amendment is
more significant.
