Penetralia?
Sour Kraut also has a really bad nose job. But it comes in handy for supercilious sneering at the Divine Sarah.

CK was a Dem, but somewhere, sometime he supposedly suffered a conversion to the right.
Interesting to listen to - the way he constructs sentences and so forth, but for analysis === just another talking head.

Krauthammer is German for “Liberal RINO”
“Conservative” and “Krauthammer” are two totally seperate things

Krauthammer is one of the half a dozen or so people it's a mistake not to read. That doesn't mean he's always right, or Right.
He started as a democrat and for all I know, he still is. But he's intelligent and honest, and doesn't duck tough questions, so in terms of today's dominant problem set, he's operationally conservative. That doesn't mean he follows a party line.

The answer is simple enough: At one time, many many moons ago, Krauthammer was a conservative, but he has gradually contracted Beltway Disease.
El Rushbo recently put it another way ... he said if he ever would have had kids, he had planned to name the girl “Krauthammer”, but no more.

I know this has been posted before, but it cannot be posted often enough (from his Wikipedia entry):
In 1978, Krauthammer quit medical practice to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Jimmy Carter administration, and began contributing to The New Republic magazine. During the presidential campaign of 1980, Krauthammer served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale.
In January 1981, Krauthammer began his journalistic career, joining The New Republic as a writer and editor. His New Republic writings won the 1984 "National Magazine Award for Essays and Criticism." In 1983, he began writing essays for Time magazine. In 1985, he began a weekly column for the Washington Post for which he won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for commentary.
The New Republic and Time are leftist publications. Everything about his background screams lefty.

I see him as highly intelligent, fairly conservative, but (sadly) very elitist.

In other words, it is becoming increasingly difficult to determine where he can be reliably found on the ideological scale. Is he a conservative, a centrist, a situational libertarian, or all of these at different times? So glad the question raised. Think the answer is the latter. Have always loved that CK is on 'Fox News' and sharing his wisdom. . .'loved' that is; save for his surprise attacks - which causes a painful 'head jerk'. Not bad when 'occasional'; but they are seeming to come at more frequent intervals; versus those longer periods of peaceful evenings when I took comfort in what he had to say and only had to 'nod' my head, in response to his wisdom.
A welcome question as well; because if you offer that "you love Charles Krauthammer. . .but". . .you invite the worst of hostilities from other Krauthammer fans.

Great analogy though!

I was wondering if Krauthammer is married. The Wiki article leaves out most personal info for Krauthammer.
I did find this very informative article on another site:
Charles Krauthammer: Prize Writer
He grew up in Canada. Nuff said:)
To: RobinMasters
Krauthammer is a Romney supporter.
That should cover it.

Still, one detects a growing tendency to pronounce upon critical affairs without sufficient grounding in the penetralia of things along with a positional inconsistency that renders him at times maddeningly unlocatable, like a slippery electron in a split-screen experiment. Methinks this article was overwrotten....

CK is smarter than the average bayer, but his oracular delivery leads to the expectation that he is always and unanswerably right.
Which makes it all the more distressing when he clearly isn’t.
