Have any potential Presidential candidates in history been told not to run or could not win the general election, before they have announced they were running, then Sarah Palin?
Even Ronald Reagan wasn't told not to run this many times!
Could you name one?

Nope. That proves she would win in a landslide, or something.
I had a little over a half hour conversation with her when she was in Seattle a few months ago. I told her I didn’t think she should run and she could impact the country in a more positive way by doing, well, what she’s doing now.
I still feel that way. I wouldn’t want Rush to run either.
Paranoia runs deep
Yep, Herman Cain is being told not to run, quite often here on FR.
Nixon was told he was all done after he lost the Presidency to Kennedy and then lost when he ran next for Governor of CA. Like they said of Churchill, he was a man with a great future far behind him...Nixon didn’t listen. He decided to run for President in ‘68 against all odds and against all advice. Moreover, the press hated him...
He won.
Shake it up Sarah, the rats are restless.
There is a quote from the Art of War that has been on the tip of my tongue for the past week or so that I just can’t remember (and haven’t had a chance to look up). It involved giving your enemy one target while you position your strength in another place.
Lincoln - a sitting president -was told by the then GOP leadership he couldn’t possibly beat McClellan in 1864.
Funny, I don’t recall ever reading about President McClellan....just the disgraced and twice-fired general.

For a long time I thought the media was mocking Palin hoping Republicans would put her up as their nominee, so they could knock her off. They thought her unprepared, an easy mark, with only a tough mouth. But now I believe they may FEAR her, actually. She has more than Obama had in the form of a resume, and the media has belatedly discovered that though their style is different, they are both natural born speakers in pumping people up and motivating crowds. The media knows she can do this.
Harold Stassen on his 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th times?
He’s only being told that by those Romneybots and RINO moles who insidiously infest FR.
Cain would be a fantastic candidate. I first heard him a few years back when he pinch-hit for Quinn & Rose on their radio show here in Da ‘Burgh. I was highly impressed then and that has only increased exponentially the more I hear what he has to say.
Col. West would also make a great candidate, as would Gen. Franks.
Who else would do a better job it?
She has every right to run if she wants....the more the merrier....let the primaries choose our candidate. I want that person to be touch, good in debates, and a strong conservative that will point out unapologetically all of Obama’s mistakes. Tired of Repubs PRAISING the one....looking at you Newt ;)
I would like to see her run, but as the VP. A Cain/Palin ticket would terrify the Dems and have them attacking a black man and a woman. Which would be SO easy to point out the hypocrisy.
