There was a hypocritical double-standard on display by the Morning Joe folks who turned Haley slowly over a spit today. Hat tip NB reader Ray R.
Eugene Robinson took the lead in belting Barbour for sending his children to private schools in Mississippi rather than to local public schools attended by black children. Joe Scarborough chimed in with his Mississippi-childhood recollections of such post-integration private academies springing up. Mike Barnicle did his bit, contributing the tale of whites in South Boston pulling their kids out of integrated public schools in favor of parochial and private ones.
One thing was missing from the conversational mix, however: any reference to the tradition of Dems in DC--from Bill and Hillary, to the Gores, to of course the Obamas--sending their kids [or in the case of the Bidens, grandkids] to tony private schools like Sidwell Friends rather than to the heavily African-American public DC schools.

Morning Joe crowd bashes Barbour for sending kids to private schools: doesn’t mention Dems sending kids to Sidwell Friends. Ping to Today show list.
I seem to recall that they did that because their kids were being bussed, under court order, to schools, hours away, in dangerous neighborhoods.
Joe Scarborough is now the liberals favorite psuedo-conservative.
The crowd that they are playing to is too dumb or too close minded to even draw the conclusion.
Barnicle also manages to insult parochial schools. They have a tradition of taking any child, regardless of religion, and certainly of race.
Being a southern white male is the crime for which there is no defense.
So, what’s wrong with white people sending their kids to schools that are predominantly white rather than black? When the public high school I attended — City College in Baltimore — was white (mostly Jewish), it was one of the nation’s top schools. When the blacks took it over, it became such a hellhole, cesspool that it eventually had to be closed.
Whites have as much right to seek out their own as blacks do — as in black student unions, black fraternities, black clubs, black congressional caucuses ad infinitum. ad nausea.
It’s time to knock off the charade that we are all alike. Blacks have their dominant culture, just as whites do. And as long as the access is not legally blocked by government, that’s life.
“Joe Scarborough is now the liberals favorite psuedo-conservative.”
The puppet masters must have changed the tune, Joe went from being a mushy, moderate to being a liberal. Joe calls himself conservative, but there is nothing about how he behaves on MSNBC that would indicate that he is conservative!
Being a CONSERVATIVE southern white male is the crime for which there is no defense.
There are plenty of liberal ones that are blameless to the MSM, Joe Scarbuttkisser being the best example............
IMHO Joe is so busy diddling Mika he has no idea who he is.
I'm betting that fact about Sidwell is never, ever mentioned.
” When the blacks took it over(City), it became such a hellhole...”
....what about Poly, is it still functioning?...or have blacks run it into the ground too?
Stonewalls, who is old enough to remember when Baltimore was a great city.
There is no defense for being a conservative anything white male—they just think they’ve got better evidence against the Southerners.
(And Haley showed himself to be incredibly obtuse about the dynamic with the comments he made.)
"Under Imam Obama, whites are logically below blacks.
Blacks are unfortunately below Moslems.
And Moslems are equal with Union Leaders and Congress."
Barnicle is from Lincoln, MA. It’s 4% Black now. When he was growing up there it was probably 0%.

When did they close City College of Baltimore? It is still going strong and has gotten some top academic awards.
“City College is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence (19992000), one of only two public secondary schools in Baltimore City to receive the award, a Maryland Blue Ribbon High School, a Maryland Character Education High School of the Year (1999)”
We’re getting played. Our sympathies are being aroused for this candidate, or that one, shaping backlash that advances the game for the candidate.
The Weekly Standard gushes over Barbour at the same time the Morning Joe crowd slow-cooks him. The media is trying already to pick our candidate for us by playing on our fury against the media and working our emotions.
Some (maybe many) freepers have stronger and longer resumes than some of our potential candidates. Other candidates have solid resumes, but whose career-long affectations have been RINO through and through. They owe their career to RINOs. The media WANTS us to think that southern, folksy arrogant and populist will make our next nominee because Obama can draw a contrast of cool competence and utter command of the issues.
Methinks we are being played by both sides.
Can’t really speak for Poly. As you know, we City Gentlemen never had much to do with the Poly Boys (other than beating them on the now defunct City-Poly Thanksgiving Day Classic). I can’t imagine that Poly is faring much better though. Truth be told (which it, of course, is not) all of Baltimore (other than Hampden and the Inner Harbor doing daylight hours) is now a black hole.
You’re right, when I was a kid, Baltimore was a great, great city.
