I asked Jim Robinson today to delete my account on Free Republic. He asked me to post an opus so some folks would not think that I was banned for no reason. Here is my brief opus:
Thank you Free Republic and Good Bye. This was an excellent forum for many years but now I do not think it is so in my humble opinion. The trend where the forum is going is very clear to me and I do not want to be part of it.
For all the Freepers with whom I have had good relationship and great discussions I want to thank you for all the good time we had together on this forum.
God Bless America and Our Brave Troops.

I would like to take exception to your comment. My dad and I utilized the same account for years. After his passing I was required by FR management to create a new account, hence the alias A_Tradition_Continues vs Politicalwit. I am a proud member of the Class of'98.

I think more accurately is that he doesn’t care that so many are pro-palin, he doesn’t like that the pro-palin people seem to be allowed to make personal attacks on anybody who disagree with them, without punishment.

If we didn’t have foreign papers we wouldn’t have any thoughtful news at all as of late!
So here is what I see happening....
I see a lot of tripe posted because of that lack of decent journalism and because of copyright bans on articles.
That leaves us with 10 articles a day from some blog on how the US spent 800 mil on teaching Africans to wash their tallywackers.
This results in a slew of guffawing posts, and a general malaise for those who are jonesing for an article that will stimulate them intellectually.
Can I at least come up for a cup of coffee?

My carbon footprint is even smaller than you realize: I’ve never posted a single article on FR in the nearly 10 yrs I’ve been here (joined on election day, 2000).
You’ll be missed. Just wait a couple months. Nothing like a national election to change the dynamic around here.

I regretted that as soon as I sent it, but unlike FB on FR you cannot take it back.
My gut tells me jveritas has some connection with the NRSC, or some other official GOP entity. Recent threads, especially some from last night, may have pushed him over the edge. In that context (if I’m correct) then I understand why he is bolting. The moronic overuse of the label “RINO” by way too many posters here makes me wince, too, but geez - - you gotta be able to skip over those idiots’ posts and focus on what smart people like me post. Evidently, jveritas couldn’t take it anymore.
