Voyers, exhibitionists, as well as the overly cautious and fearful are most likely thrilled that the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) installed new body scanners at San Diego International Airport / Lindergh Field yesterday. The rest of us are not so happy because the scanners clearly display a person's parts through his/her clothes: arms, legs, belly rolls, breasts.
Modesty and privacy are slowing going the way of the buffalo yet perhaps the majority don't mind...
So now these advanced imaging technology scanners, made by Rapiscan Systems, are being strategically placed in our airports in the name of safety. Each scanner is able to generate a full-body image in order to screen passengers. The black and white images leave nothing to the imagination.
Comparable to dental x-rays, your body shows up clearly like your teeth, while your clothes, much like your lips and gums, are see-through ...

I don’t care much either. When you see some of these TSA agents you know that this is all they are “getting”, so they might as well get their jollies with it
Ever been to a nude beach? Newflash - naked bodies do not equal pornography. It matters not how nubile, young or hot - there is a reason those women in adult magazines are posed by professionals. To make porn, you need a willing model not only assume a provocative pose, but also address the camera in a ‘come hither’ look.
Or would you argue that most of the nudes in the museaum, the classics that have been hanging around for the past 400 years are all pornographic?
The difference between pornography and nudity is HUGE. Pictures of a person walking through a scanner are not arousing, especially after you see 3 or 4 of them; let alone 5,000/day. They are about as arousing as your average x-ray.
If you have a private jet, you can bypass security and take off from a smaller airport. But the rich and famous stand in the same lines the rest of us do. There is a reason why most of them have a ‘stage name’ and their real name. They travel under their real name, and no one really notices. Besides, with the number of people who go through the airports it’s not unusual to have several people with the same name go through. We had James (Jim) Bond in my dorm in college - and surprisingly enough he wasn’t a chick magnet at all.
Body Scan Images From Security Checkpoints Were Saved By Feds
Aug 4, 2010 ... Feds Accidentally Save Body Scan Images (Ooops) ... So why do citizens keep assuming they’re not lying?
Do a google search and read the articles on this..
We have 2 at my local airport..there are about 20 ICE stations, so the likelihood of a full body scan are not great..you can actually avoid them by picking the “right” line..so if I had something on me..I would choose the other lanes
This is another hair brained government expense
that is the great mystery - I assume they are lying until proven otherwise
A pair of 38's apparently....

I’ve seen typos from just about every news source there is - I think everyone gets bleary-eyed (sp) from staring at monitors all day
Were I a professional journalist, I would at least bother to use the spell-checker.
For home, not work!
So you would be comfortable with your mother, daughter, wife or sister having her naked image stored by a TSA employee for personal gratification or distribution since the image does not meet your definition of pornographic?
If the government has the ability to do something, it will. Similarly, if a government employees have the ability to do something, eventually some will.
WE have to submit to a strip search just to get on an airplane... Meanwhile, just asking for a birth certificate before getting the nuclear launch codes is crazy talk that only comes from racists and extremists
Yea... This all makes perfect sense
The scanners are made by Rapiscan? Rape-scan? Unfortunate company name ...
I am a modest woman. The only people allowed to see me naked are my husband, medical professionals and other female family members when I’m changing.
I’m not too up in arms over this because I’ve been told that I may request a pat-down. I have a choice.
Now if they take away my choice, then I’ll have a fit.
And this has nothing to do with feeling like I’m being objectified or being watched by perverts. I’m simply a modest woman. It boils down to my morals and principles. I will not abandon those things.
You are, obviously, correct. However, I chose my battles.
Did you know that an ordinary cell phone or camcorder can see through clothes even better than this unit does? All you have to do is install a cheap ($20) IR filter to your cell phone or camcorder and you can see through swimsuits as if they were naked.
People who want to do this sort of thing, already can - and have been doing so for the past 20 yrs.
Denver airport has them. Every other person was required to go through them today. This is a massive invasion of privacy and has nothing at all to do with security. This is just corpoate profits by those that sell this stuff to the government.
While you are being strip searched, yes, fully naked strip searched, at the front door of the airport, illegal aliens work the airplanes. This is not about security.
