Who Do You Trust?

Apparently if your child draws a flag in class, the student better put it in a circle so as not to offend the teacher.

“The principal of a Central Coast school thrust in the national media spotlight over a drawing of the American flag said a teacher accused of calling the drawing offensive is ready to bring closure,” KSBW reported from Salinas, California on May 13, 2010. “Earlier this month, a seventh-grader at Gavilan View Middle School said her teacher told her to stop drawing a picture of the American Flag and called it offensive before praising another student’s drawing of President Obama.”

“Gavilan View Principal John Gutierrez said he spoke with the teacher for the first time Wednesday morning, and said she is willing to meet with the parents and bring closure. ‘And if that means an apology, absolutely,’ Gutierrez said.”

When the drawing of the American flag, or a cross, or a picture of a gun, or any such nonsense is the political correctness of today, in America ...

We are, indeed, LOST!

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

apology? how about a 2000 word essay on the history and meaning of the american flag (to be graded by me), displaying an american flag in the classroom and having to raise and lower the american flag at the school with appropriate ceremony for 30 days,

“...the student better put it in a circle so as not to offend the teacher.”

I must be missing something, but how would putting it in a circle avoid having the teacher become offended? I’d think this teacher would still be offended— or is it the Obama-circle defense?

They need more than an apology from the teacher. The principal needs to make clear to the whole school that the American flag is, and ought to be, an object of pride, honor and gratitude.

There ought to be a flag in every classroom, and in the hallway.

Anyone in the school who shows disrespect to the flag ought to be disciplined, even if only with a reprimand.

What they need is “sensitivity training” about not offending those of us who love and value this country and the exceptional place it holds in the history of humankind — the first and (only) country whose government’s very existence as a legal entity is predicated on the first principle that it must first and foremost preserve, protect and defend the individual rights of the people.

“bring closure” - that’s meaningless psychobabble.
What we have here is America-haters being paid with our hard-earned money to teach hatred of this country and to worship a marxist.

A picture of a Mexican flag would have no doubt been OK.

Maybe they mean a red circle with a slash through it?

I guess “putting it in a circle” means you are distorting the proper shape of the flag, and thus desecrating it, and therefore anti-American teacher won’t be offended?

I can’t figure this one out either and maybe I am reading way too much into it, but I would like to know what that ‘putting it in a circle’ meant as well.

I think you are supposed to put it in a circle with a line through it.
