Now what can this be all about?
I get an email from my Lil Bro Thom (who likes show tunes, a lot, and is often peppering his emails with Broadway lyrices) Could be, who knows? Theres something due any day, I will know, right away soon as it shows
He was writing about this bit of a blurb from Deacon Greg, who got it from American Papist, who got it from Damian Thompson:
***
We inform accredited journalists that tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October 2009, at 11am, in the John Paul II Hall of the Press Office of the Holy See, a briefing will be held on a theme pertaining to the relationship with the Anglicans, at which His Eminence Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and His Excellency Mgr Joseph Augustine Di Noia OP, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments will take part. (Hat-tip, Fr Finigan.)
Meanwhile, this press release came from the Archbishop of Canterburys office:
***
You are invited to a press conference with Archbishop Vincent Nichols (Archbishop of Westminster) and Archbishop Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) on Tuesday 20 October at 1000. The press conference will take place at 39 Eccleston Square, London SW1V 1BX.

Father Z supposes that this is to announce that there will be a reunion of Traditional Anglicans with the Catholic Church.
Which might result in something rather like this parish in Texas, an Anglican-use Catholic church.
Certainly traditional Anglicans have been considering such a move for a while. Recall, just last month, 10 Anglican nuns and their chaplain entered the Roman church.
Even more interesting, to my way of thinking, is this blurb about Queen Elizabeth, who is reportedly appalled by the recent moves within the Church of England. Her Majesty, a plucky lady who worked in the motor pool for the UK armed forces during World War II, is, along with Benedict XVI, the last 20th century figure of world-wide caliber to still stand upon the world stage.
As she is also the head of the Church of England and, of course, the Defender of the Faith, it is remarkable to read that Benedicts 2010 visit to England may very well include a stay at Buckingham Palace as the guest of the Queen.
Interesting doings?
It seems to me that everyone currently in power is moving about in a rather rushed fashion, just now. Churches do not rush, much. As a rule, the churches take a good long time to make their moves. But when they do; they are resolute.
Also worth noting: dont ignore the very young Russian Orthodox Archbishop Helarion of Volokolamsk, the Vicar of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia and the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations (basically, the foreign secretary of the Russian Orthodox Church).
He recently met with Pope Benedict XVI and had what all concerned called a positive and constructive meeting.
The times being what they are, Christian churches may have to find ways to come together, ut unum sint.
Wow .. that would be historic. May these men of God inspire the faithful to pray for our spinning world and fight for its preservation.
~~ping!
Rowan Williams “man of God:” a charitable but wholly fanciful characterization.
Guess you haven't been reading much about the split presently taking place in the ECUSA. That having been said, a big trinitarian cheer for the Big Papa is in order. :o)
It’s a kumbaya piece of crapola. When you consider Rowan and the garbage he’s been spewing for years, lady priests and bishops, no problems with gays at all - you can’t reconcile with that and stay orthodox.
Wonder how cold the Tiber is this time of year?
Hmmmmm. Top religious leaders acting in a “rushed” fashion, according to the article. Some possibilities:
1. Wrong impression by the Anchoress. No rushing, just stronger PR than usual by the players.
2. They know something. Or fear something that requires a joining with like forces to parry an unlike force.
Obama will become a Saint, purely in anticipation of great deeds of course ?
Unless the Pope is a complete fool, he will bar the Crossings of the Tiber against the Archbishop of Canterbury and his ilk, who have no concept of Christianity, let alone any love for it.

NOTE TO ALL:
I missed the question mark at the end of the headline, and have asked the Mods to please add it.
If it doesn't happen, please know, it IS part of the title and I goofed.
Tomorrow: Major announcement on Catholic-Anglican relations?
###
Papist chatter across the herring pond in England is heating up, with confirmed reports of major simultaneous press conferences taking place tomorrow morning at the Vatican and London.
Damian Thompson gets us the goods - this press release came from the Vatican:
We inform accredited journalists that tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October 2009, at 11am, in the John Paul II Hall of the Press Office of the Holy See, a briefing will be held on a theme pertaining to the relationship with the Anglicans, at which His Eminence Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and His Excellency Mgr Joseph Augustine Di Noia OP, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments will take part. For both Cardinal Levada (doctrinal issues) and Abp. Di Noia (liturgy and sacraments) to be involved, you know it has to be significant.
The conference will be taking place in the very early morning hours my time, so when I wake up tomorrow I’ll take a look at the news wire and report back.

It said “Traditional Anglicans,” and I seriously doubt that Rowan Martin is one of them. He’ll stay as the head of his dwindling gay druid-church while the others go to Rome.
-—Also worth noting: dont ignore the very young Russian Orthodox Archbishop Helarion of Volokolamsk, the Vicar of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia and the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations (basically, the foreign secretary of the Russian Orthodox Church).

As the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations, Archbishop Hilarion is deep in the soviet-controlled Moscow Patriarchate’s dealings with Cuba, North Korea, and now communist China. Is there any freedom of religion in those countries? Can their citizens attend the beautiful churches erected in their countries by the MP? I can’t believe the Pope doesn’t know who he is dealing with.
Rowan, reading the writing on the wall as the American church of homosexual celebration continues to “progress” apace, made noises at one point of cutting off the American church. The reason is that the Church of England has most of it’s growth outside of North America and Europe and these folks are still Christians. Not to mention the Queen is not at all happy with the American church’s abandonment of the faith.
I used to have a link to a great web site written by a conservative who covered all this intrigue within the homosexual church.
If this is indeed re: Anglican reunion (e.g. the TAC), I think Rowan Williams won’t be in on the deal....he may just be part of the press conference to present the Anglican side of the story and perhaps Rome extended him the courtesy to be in on the talks.
Official Anglicanism has rapidly become a lost cause as far as Rome is concerned, which is why the energy has gone into the splinter groups instead like the TAC.
Remember that letter that then-Cardinal Ratzinger sent to the Episcopal rebels at Plano? That was a tectonic shift in diplomacy as far as the Vatican was concerned.
