Black Man Torn
Vanity | Wife of D28 Man

Posted on 09/19/2009 5:53:24 PM PDT by Wife of D28Man

Freepers, I write to ask your help on behalf of a good man, a courageous man, who is torn by a community that may finally be awakening to Democrat perfidy. He - and I suspect there are many like him - needs to know that he is not alone; that others walk the same road; that there is a wealth of information and support to guide him through the challenges he faces.

Harold is a black man who has risen from the depths of poverty and drug addiction and its associated pathologies. Today he is happily married with a couple of healthy, happy children; he and his wife enjoy all the benefits of the successful middle class. For several years he has been a powerful force in the drug program of our church, leading numerous addicts out of a life of despair into recovery.

Harold is a conservative. He did not vote for Obama, and he is strongly opposed to the President's policies. But his roots are deeply Democrat. He says that it is axiomatic: If you are black and poor, you are a Democrat. His head and his faith are in terrible confict with the political DNA of his birth and primary community.

There is no doubt in my mind that Harold will emerge victorious from this struggle. But I am asking for your help in strengthening him for the turmoil he is facing. Please weigh in with resources (e.g. Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Shelby Steele) and/or personal experiences in dealing with a black community that still does not fully realize the it is bound by Democrat shackles and that holds conservatives in contempt.

God bless you for reaching out to this good man.

I can’t offer anything more than prayers for strength and wisdom, so that is what I’ll do.

We have been living under a fascist oligarchy/plutarchy for a long time, BTW. The jobs aren’t coming back, unless we starve the beast (avoid buying anything that we don’t need, get self-sufficient), leave the plantation and start our own production efforts. Buy a cheap parcel of land in a rural area.

The three thinkers you mentioned are a great start.

But my main suggestion would be that he need not find “black conservatives” to support him. That is a trap of leftism and liberalism and it’s called identify politics.

Your friend has risen above the Self and the identity-politics of the Self. That is why he is a conservative. His beliefs are based on more universal principles that have been tried and proved as far back as the Attic Greek roots of Western Civilization.

Reassure him that identity politics are INTENDED TO DIVIDE and that it was a scheme put into full force by Soviet-backed communists in academe.

People debate whether Jesus was a conservative or liberal. Two points of his teachings and ministry that no honest Christian can deny are these:

1. His teachings were about (after Grace, of course) rising above the Self and selfish issues.

2. He was all-inclusive. If you believe in Him, then Grace is for you...regardless of all other aspects of your life.

I won’t go into the particular universal principles of Conservative thought other than to offer this analogy:

A man who is dependent upon handouts from others for his own survival is no different than addict who is dependent upon his junkie.

Christ frees us from the world and from our sin and frees us UNTO truly independent thought and action...not “group think,” and especially not identity politics.

Interestingly enough, most African Americans can trace their roots to Western Africans.

Oh no problem at all.
I wish they had podcasts or you could listen on the radio to Joshua’s Trail.

It’s a great show!

Here’s the website to the local station that plays it. You can listen live on Saturday mornings.

I love it and listen every Saturday. They are funny and informative.

I’m a conservative black man who found my way out of the labyrinth of liberal lies in my early 40’s. I can relate to what your friend is going through.

A person has no idea how strong a lifetime of liberal conditioning and indoctrination is, until they actually fight their way clear of it, through the process of education and enlightenment.

Liberal indoctrination is quite powerful, and prevents most blacks from discovering the simple truths of their condition and the truth of what America really is. Outside of the institution of slavery, liberal indoctrination is the most insidious and despicable crime ever committed against black Americans.

I’d even argue that the covert and destructive mental conditioning that liberalism inflicts on blacks is even worse than the old Jim Crow laws of our grand parents’ day, because it causes blacks to unwittingly destroy themselves and their communities, through the adoption of evil concepts like blaming others for one’s condition and refusing responsibility for one’s own actions.

Through drumming in these concepts, liberalism lowers expectations amongst blacks, and diminishes their capacity to take charge of their own lives and standard of living.

Liberalism convinces blacks that they are powerless against invisible forces which are “keeping them down”, and that they need the help of white liberals, particularly in government to assist them to achieve “justice” of all sorts.

When blacks fail to rise to even the most average levels of human achievement, they’re persuaded to insist on handicaps, such as affirmative action, and societal bars are lowered across the boards to accommodate their reduced performance.

Those who give the least to the wider community are given every possible assistance and largesse, while those who actively seek to be worthy, productive citizens are forced through the power of the state to be unwilling accomplices in this crime.

These acts do nothing to elevate these people, and in fact, they simply reinforce their trained-in disabilities. This also injures every person in the society who must now accept the outright theft of their hard-earned money, and accept the reduced quality of services rendered by those who’ve been artificially advanced in this way.

In time, that reduced quality of service and performance contaminates whatever environment it’s being practiced in, and the overall quality and integrity of that activity drops.

I once heard that “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Conservatism is very much based on this premise, and it works. Liberalism is based on the exact reverse, and does not work, but over time, drives the entire population into beggar status, as none will fish lest their catch be forcibly taken from them to feed the indigent.

This is liberalism. This is Socialism. Unfortunately, it’s also the core belief of today’s Democrat party.

I feel that your friend is seeing the first glimmers of light beyond the guard towers. Tell him that the light is real, and that he should move with all due haste toward it, no matter the cost.

best,
Windflier

First off, for me, the measure of any man is: does he stand and deliver? It sound like this guy does every but of that. Secondly, one needs to internalize that truth - if your waiting for other to validate you , you’ll be waiting a long, long time. Third, maybe first, get rooted your identity as a believer - who do we serve (man or God)? Finally, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember . . . before the Democrats became the party of “compassion” to black folks, they were the party of the KKK and Jim Crow. The RATs were the racist party embedded in politics all the way up untill FDR and beyond in the South. However, when LBJ annd the rest of the klan figured out the power to be had by implementing “poverty programs” they focussed on reducing black America into dependents and voters for their own gain.

Time to stand up and count.

Some years ago when President Bush and that body builder who is now a leftist greenie creep were in Santa Monica, many of us went to support them. The Code Pinkos and other insane lefties were there to protest.

After the event, a number of us had dinner together. Homeless activist Ted Hayes, who happens to be black, spoke to us and told the following (paraphrasing):

I was a Democrat because I was born black. But I was surrounded by people who were always whining and complaining and blaming others. They were lazy and just wanted things given to them. Then I started hanging around with some Republicans. They were friendly, courteous, upbeat, positive, hard working and they wanted everyone to succeed. I realized I’m a Republican.

The “first” black ballplayer in Boston Red Sox history - the LAST team in MLB to integrate, ironically, was Jerry “Pumpsie” Green who played a few short and unremarkable years and was out of baseball entirely before he was 30, He can be found, though, in all of the history books because he was a “first” in what was considered a bigoted organization.

Ironically, Pumpsie had a brother, Cornell, who was a tremendous athlete, the 5 time Pro-Bowler for the Dallas Cowboys. He made five Pro Bowls at two different positions - cornerback and strong safety. Green never missed a game in 13 seasons with the Cowboys (1962-74) and played 168 games, including 145 consecutive starts for the Cowboys between 1962-1974.

Absent Obama’s general collegiate records, indicating his course work, written grade scores and SAT’s etc., we don’t know how smart this guy is ... but I’m going out on a limb and saying he is more like Pumpsie Green than Cornell Green...he’s just the “first” to come along...

Anybody, even someone of little talent can become famous and be a “first” or a celebrity...but the guy who shows up on game day and straps it on is the guy who will be remembered for being someone special.

By the way, you can never go wrong with Thomas Sowell. A book by a non-conservative African American man that's worth reading is Out Of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa by Washington Post writer Keith Richburg. You an read essays on the subject that he writes about in much more detail in his book here (part 1) and here (part 2).
