I am on the email list of a dear black friend of 20 years. He is a minister, writer and professor. He has mentored and advised me with great wisdom on numerous occasions. With me being a black conservative Republican and he a Democrat, we avoid talking politics. Since the election of Obama, my friend will talk about nothing else. He is in Baltimore. I'm in Florida. Every time he calls me, he turns the conversation into trashing all who oppose Obama's agenda. Thank God for caller ID.
I received a mass email from my friend in which he vilifies the Christian community for not chastising ministers who speak against Obama and for not attacking Sarah Palin. He said the Republicans used Palin as their "attack dog against Obama". He said watching a McCain/Palin rally was like watching a KKK lynch mob and he personally heard the crowds yelling, "kill him", referring to Obama. Folks, my dear friend is a liar.
In 2008, I traveled the U.S. attending forty rallies on the national "Stop Obama Tour" with Our Country Deserves Better PAC. Not once, did I hear any violent or racist comments. Seeing through his smooth speeches and charisma, people were simply terrified of what was to come with an Obama victory.
Behind all of my friend's intellectual yada, yada, yada, festers a deep hatred for the rich and white people. In a conversation, he said with great glee that Obama was going to "reign in Wall Street" and CEO's salaries should be limited to $500,000 per year. I thought, "Who the heck are you to dictate how much someone should be permitted to earn. This is America. The sky's the limit".
Anger caused me to write a passionate reply to my friend's hate filled email.

No, I am a capitalist, but your a communist. That is my general reply.
I think some of the less severely infected are recovering, but there seems to be a hard core that is absolutely irrational and obsessed.
I still don't understand how Obama gets away with riding on the American black experience, btw. The child of a white hippie and an African graduate student, at first brought up by his white parent in Muslim environments outside of the US and then by well off whites in secular, palmy Hawaii...how many American blacks can relate to that experience? He doesn't even look black; he looks like Ted Turner with a suntan. So I must say that even from the racial point of view, I'm a little puzzled as to his attraction for his fans.
Lloyd, as usual, your piece is right on target.
Unfortunately, anytime someone says anything negative against Obama, they get the squinty eyed ‘are you a racist’ look.
When black liberals rail against CEO’s that’s code for whitey. (See, we can play the “code” game too!)
Here’s what I had to say last week at our Canadian sister site:

“One thing to remember? The race card is a desperation move- it has been used so indiscriminately, for so long down here that only has meaning to the Left.
Normal people hear it, and shrug.”

“The Left has certain smears which, in their narrow world are nukes... at least to them... I’ve been called all of them...
Racist? Tell that to my neighbor Sammy, or the first Chief Mechanic I worked under- who’re blacker than the Ace of Spades. Not to mention my black wet nurse...
Sexist? Could’a fooled 2 wives and a number of girlfriends- I’ve always liked women, and been in their corner.
AntiGay! Well, I oppose gay “marriage,” but my Lesbian neighbors, my first BIL, a number of Miss Emily’s “little gay boy” friends? We get along fine.”
Thank you O’Bummer for setting race relations in America back 30 years. You must be so proud!
Obama suffers from that same deep hatred for the rich and white people.”
He even wrote about it in his book.
Leftist/"progressives"/communists want nothing to do with progress, that is not what they are after. It is the excuse they use for gaining advantage when it is NOT deserved.
I have seen nothing more ignorant and racist than an affirmative action titty-baby that has been constantly given employment and promotions based on their skin color.
I am dealing with one at my current job and everyone that deals with him is amazed he is still with the company. Various reprimands and two 3-day suspensions for aggressive behavior and extreme foul language in just 4 years, yet he is still moving up in the promotion chain.
It might be time to do the “Spartacus” thing where the moment anyone is called a “racist,” everyone within earshot steps forward and says, “I’m a racist!”
..”Your a Racist”
I thought I was a Pisces...
(And they say *conservatives* are illiterate?
I reply --
It's not that he's black.
It's not even that he's black *and* white.
It's that RED all over part that gets me!
Cheers!
“The race card is a desperation move- it has been used so indiscriminately, for so long down here that only has meaning to the Left.”
It has become so hackneyed that “your sister wears combat boots” would have more effect.
Yep, sure ‘nuff. Zippy gives new meaning to the old “what’s black and white and red all over?” joke.
We just aren’t into the “ist” thing so much because we recognize individual PEOPLE and not inanimate invented “groups” and group rights. Maybe they can be nudged with an analogy comparing “groups” to “teams”. They hate competition and sides and the need to have a winner and loser (or so they claim). Let’s tell them that having “groups” is like having “teams” and it divides people and causes strife. We are FOR peace and FOR cooperative living and against dividing into various “groups” aka sides/teams and competing for limited government goodies. (Using their terms and ideas against them as Alinsky suggests)
Maybe they warrant a pointy, “va fa’n cul’,” one-finger retort.
