My Message for Michelle Malkin [Meghan McLame] [says GOP needs more RINOs, should emulate Obama]
The Daily Beast ^ | 2009-08-11

The Daily Beast's Meghan McCain on why the far-right pundit, who says McCain needs to shut up, won’t be getting her wish—and why telling moderates to get out of the party is bad for the GOP.

BY MEGHAN MCCAIN

Michelle Malkin, the conservative pundit and author of the recent book Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks, and Cronies, was asked during a live chat on Politico’s The Arena on Friday which conservative political figure or commentator needs to shut up. Guess who her answer was? Yeah, that’s right—yours truly.

So Michelle Malkin successfully rounds out the trifecta of extreme female conservative pundits, following Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter, who believe that I, and Republicans like me, need to shut up and get out of the party. Is this surprising? Not really, given my father’s complicated history with the extreme right of the GOP. But what confuses me is this: Malkin recently posted an item on her blog about how “drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

What do Malkin and the other conservative pundits hope to accomplish by arguing that people “like me” have no place within the Republican Party? And who exactly are people “like me”? Young people? Moderate people? Young female people? People with tattoos who go to biker rallies? The Republican Party should be a place for all kinds of people, and I hope my fellow moderates come to see that the party is the place for them, too. With every day of the Obama administration, I am more convinced that my political party is the one with the better ideals. The recent Cash for Clunkers mess is a classic example of an issue that that Michelle and I agree on.

However, I am consistently asked why I would want to stay in a party that has members so angry about my involvement. It’s as simple as this: I idealistically believe in the Republican Party, and I also have an emotional connection to it. But if the party continues to demand that people leave, I guarantee you that they will. If you tell people there is no place for them, they aren’t going to fight for their right to stay. They are going to rush into the open arms of the other team. I don’t know exactly what about me threatens them so much, other than that people are listening to me. Malkin has the No. 1 book on The New York Times bestseller hardcover nonfiction list, but I have nearly twice as many Twitter followers as she does. And trust me, Twitter is more of an indication of where young people are than books published by the hyper-conservative publisher Regnery—which will be bringing you Carrie Prejean’s new book and published one of Ann Coulter’s.

There is a place for the far right in this party, Malkin included, and I respect their right to be heard. But the Republican Party will continue to lose elections unless we start reaching out in a more effective way to people my age and to moderates. Barack Obama won the last election on the slogan “Yes We Can,” and there is no reason why Republicans can’t go forth and win elections with equally positive messages. We will not get anywhere by continuing to sell hate and fear. Of course, there is always going to be a fraction of the GOP that is going to respond to that, but at some point we have to start facing the reality that hate and fear will only get us so far. Those emotions are not sources for inspiration of joining anything, let alone supporting a political party. The old conservatives of the past need to start accepting that this is a new era and I am a part of a new generation. I am as sick of the infighting as everyone else, but I would like to point out that I am not the one starting this fight or demanding that the other half of the party leave.

It’s true that Democrats make being a member appealing in a much different way than the Republican Party does. The Democrats seem to have mastered inclusiveness—whereas Republicans, like a country club, seem to require a litmus test. But if people like Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter think they can bully me into giving up this fight and what I am doing, they are going to be severely disappointed. And I can assure them that unless they start being realistic about the cultural and generational differences between the two sides of the party, there will not be a new generation of Republicans.

The only thing the democrats have mastered is the MEDIA. They are totally in control of it.

Read at your own risk...It will probably make you angry.

I started to read it but had to stop amid a chuckle when I got to the part about her calling herself a conservative political figure or commentator. It also stretches credibility to suggest that Michelle Malkin would so describe her.

Still wondering why the **** she's a Republican. She's not a "moderate" seems pretty "liberal" to me. And she uses the leftist code word "far right" to describe conservatives like Malkin.

I have nearly twice as many Twitter followers as she does.

LOL. Maybe a couple sentences at a time is all people can handle from you. Any more than that and it's evident you're a dumb twist.

I don't get it. On the one hand she warns people are leaving or not even joining the Republican party and gives the example that's it is because of the way she feels she is being (mis)treated; on the other hand she threatens to stay in it forever and fight everyone. As an aside, I'm not sure the party is for me if the goal is to have it full of people writing foul-mouthed, incoherent tweets.

Hey lezzie McShameless,

What shall it profit a man if he (she, it?) gains the world but sacrifices his soul?

Think on it, for time is short, and the hour is near when all shall stand before God and give an accounting of what they did with the blessings he gave them.

Every man, and every Nation, shall stand before Him. It profiteth one not to be found wanting. His greatest gift to us all, after the life of His Son Jesus, are the babies he blesses us with, followed shortly by our indivisible and inalienable rights.

And just what might the GOP stand to gain by following the example of Zer0bama? Praytell? Is it worth the price we'll pay? Have you any work to do there yourself, young lady?

;-/

It’s true that Democrats make being a member appealing in a much different way than the Republican Party does No one's holding a gun to your head, and the only reason you are staying (while playing at being a "republican") is much the same as the other clueless bi*ch is (the so called commentator, and pseudo elitist and faux republican Parker) and that it gives you both exposure and adulation from the Drive-By Media

So be gone already moonbat, and don't let the door hit you in your FAT ass!

Yet another iditoc piece from Juan McCain's fat, ugly, retarded, female proginy. So what's new?

So Michelle Malkin successfully rounds out the trifecta of extreme female conservative pundits, following Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter, who believe that I, and Republicans like me, need to shut up and get out of the party. Is this surprising? Not really,”

You got that right.

But what confuses me is this: Malkin recently posted an item on her blog about how “drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.””

You can espouse all your “opposing views” from the party that your heart really belongs to, The Demoncrat Party.

What do Malkin and the other conservative pundits hope to accomplish by arguing that people “like me” have no place within the Republican Party?”

They hope to make the party stronger, more principled, and offer a clear alternative to the Dims so we can win for a change, instead of giving voters a Democrat Lite, like Juan McCain your daddy.

And who exactly are people “like me”?”

Vermin, people who stab their party in the back, people who allow themselves to be used as pawns by the lame brain media to attack conservatives and the Republican Party, people who don't have a brain, but still won't shut up?

However, I am consistently asked why I would want to stay in a party that has members so angry about my involvement.”

I have often wondered why too. Your daddy's the real reason yes? He wants to run again in 2012 doesn't he, the back stabling clown.

” It’s as simple as this: I idealistically believe in the Republican Party, and I also have an emotional connection to it. But if the party continues to demand that people leave, I guarantee you that they will. “

When?
Hey Maghan, don't let the door hit ya on your way out will ya?

This party was founded on conservative values. Moderates are people who are liberal but don’t want to be called (but are FORMER liberal] Democrats.

There. Fixed it.

That’s an interesting way of putting it. Being a member of the Democrats is about as appealing as Helen Thomas in the nude.

No, really, Meg, you need to shut up for a while and do stuff. Like learn stuff. And pay attention to reality. And think.

RE :”It will probably make you angry.”

Nope, it once again makes me laugh. Tell her to ask Blue Dogs if they feel included in democrat party given they are having ads run against them by democrats. Yes, we have a litmus test for you, an IQ over 90.

Reference Megn quotes from above :

“And who exactly are people “like me”? “,

“However, I am consistently asked why I would want to stay in a party that has members so angry about my involvement. It’s as simple as this: I idealistically believe in the Republican Party, and I also have an emotional connection to it.”,
