Firearms Freedom Act Introduced in Florida

Introduced in the Florida House on July 6, 2009, the “Firearms Freedom Act” (HB-21) seeks to provide “that specified firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition for personal use manufactured in state are not subject to federal law or regulation” in the State of Florida.

The bill is sponsored by Florida State Reps O’Toole and Plakon. They follow in the path of Montana, and Tennessee who have already passed such legislation. And they join with Utah, Texas, South Carolina and others who are considering it in an effort to limit federal regulation of guns, and specifically invoke the 9th and 10th Amendments as restrictions on federal power:

“the regulation of intrastate commerce is vested in the states under the ninth and tenth amendments to the United States Constitution, particularly if not expressly preempted by federal law. Congress has not expressly preempted state regulation of intrastate commerce pertaining to the manufacture on an intrastate basis of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition”

Local Beers should be served to 18 years old kids. After all if they’re fighting and dying for us in Afghanistan and Iraq, then why can’t they have a fracking beer?

If the Feds go too far, the states will secede.

Remember our states have more autonomy than an European nation in the E.U.

When I joined the Air Force in 1987, the military had changed its policy (not sure if it was a law, regulation, policy) on drinking on base. Essentially, it used to be if you were on base, and in the service (not somebody's kid) you could drink. When I joined, that had changed to the base having to abide by local law.

Most of the old-timers who were there basically took the attitude of you can drink, but don't get the unit into trouble. They were pretty good. They usually asked someone to keep an eye on us younguns to make sure we made it back to the barracks without hassle from the Security Police (MPs where I was, since my first training assignment was on an Army base).

So Kel-Tec can sell full automatics to Floridians? Silencers? Woohoo!

Sure, right after they start making enough Subbies to meet the current demand.

“That would be the equivalent of disallowing Citizens the use of automobiles because they _might_ commit vehicular homicide.”

Respectfully, you left out rental trucks. After all, it was a Ryder rental truck that destroyed that Federal building.

we are in trouble with the scj
read this

excerpt:

“At issue is Sotomayor’s opinion in a recent Second Amendment case in New York. Sotomayor held that even though the Supreme Court has ruled the federal government cannot deny the right to bear arms, state governments are still entitled to do so — in other words, that the Second Amendment does not apply to the states.”

The feds have their sticky fingers in these pots, too.

It would be a much shorter list to enumerate the pots in which the federales don't have their fingers. That list follows:

1)

Major Error Here ! ! !

The following would prohibit shotguns, as they discharge more than one projectile when one pull of the trigger occurs.

Prohibited Firearms.
5. (d) “A firearm that discharges two or more projectiles with one activation of the trigger or other firing device.”

Please pass the word that I have available a way to get 17” by whatever length prints for posters. Photo paper, plain paper, whatever.

If there are any black Freepers, please FRmail me because I have quite a number of poster which make clear the historic fact that gun control in America was invented in the South when the KKK night riders discovered dirty cotton sheets were not made of Kevlar, so to speak.

Having made this momentous discovery, they passed gun control laws, so that KKK night riders could ride forth and plan on riding home again.

The Supreme Court threw out the first ones, but then lawyers began their dirty deeds and eventually gun control laws were written that the Court accepted.

Time we made minorities aware of who created gun control laws and why.

Hint: Google Oleg Volk, posters.

He is a superbly gifted artist and an ardent 2nd Amendment supporter.

His posters are both evocative and provocative.

And, they can, and have, changed many a Liberal’s views of guns.

Hoorah! I love living in Florida, the most liberal 2nd amendment state in the Union! And yes, it is liberal, as in protecting civil liberties - of which gun ownership is certainly one.

So they can manufacture every type of firearm without bending over backwards to the federal government.

You are spot on! My argument would be that since the 2nd Amendment only applies to the federal government (as has been held by the courts) The states are more than justified!

Either the 2nd is incorporated or it isn't. The black robes have painted themselves into a corner :>)

Thanks bamahead. I have trouble from time to time keeping track of my ping page. Sorry I missed this one yesterday but making amends today.

Once again FRiends, not exactly a 10th Amendment issue, but important nonetheless, IMHO of course.

Florida has entered the room!

Click the 10th Amendment button for articles tagged "10thamendment". A "statesrights" link is atop the forum page.

Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment/States Rights so I can engage the pinger.

I've stopped scouring threads and unilaterally adding names to the ping list, so if you want on or off the list just say so.
