An ill wind is blowing in America. Ordinary citizens from coast to coast are feeling a growing sense of outrage over what they are witnessing in Washington. At least one talk radio host states that the rage he is hearing from his listeners indicates that trouble is brewing beneath the surface that could erupt into the streets, not in violence, but in peaceful protest that sends a signal to Washington.
I have long believed that a small, dedicated group of people with a plan can accomplish anything.
At its most basic this is an economic war. The voting majority has learned to plunder the producers. Our country is broke and its future mortgaged. All of our rights become meaningless when we become slaves to our creditors.
The solution in principle is simple. We have to restrict our governments (and the Fed’s) ability to tax, go into debt and spend. That will require a Constitutional Amendment.
I believe the time is right
That is exactly what occurred in the first American Revolution.
"During the American Revolution, the active forces in the field against the King's tyranny never amounted to more than 3% of the colonists. They were in turn actively supported by perhaps 10% of the population. In addition to these revolutionaries were perhaps another 20% who favored their cause but did little or nothing to support it.
Another one-third of the population sided with the King (by the end of the war there were actually more Americans fighting FOR the King than there were in the field against him) and the final third took no side, blew with the wind and took what came."

Amos, you can't have it both ways. It's either "too late", or it's not. If it's not too late, then we can "turn things around", as you say.
I firmly believe that it's not too late, and that we have it within our power to turn this country around.
I concur with the balance of your post.
Old friend of mine sometimes quotes his Granddad:
“Can’t never did anything.”
There will NOT be another truly free, open and honest election in this country until after the next American Civil War the Left, ACORN, massive vote fraud and gutless Republicans have seen to that. Your vote has been rendered null and void, meaningless.
Wisdom of the ages...
I strongly doubt a Balanced Budget Amendment could ever be extracted from this Congress and then submitted to the ratification process. So there would have to be a call for a Constitutional Convention by two-thirds of the State legislatures before such a proposed amendment can be advanced. Plus note a Constitutional Convention cannot be restricted to just a single issue, but would be wide-open for business on any number of issues.
Now THAT could be fun! (Or really scary....) The big unanswered question is: How does one motivate two-thirds of the States to act?
The continuing financial collapse will be plenty of motivation.
The problem is that the takers have the numbers and the incentive. Anyone who receives money from the 'State', SS recipients, employees, contractors, Unions, Congress Critters, etc. will be opposed to any reform, they want the gravy train to continue indefinitely.
As financial concerns get worse, the Cap the Government movement will grow. The question becomes which happens first, the complete collapse of the economic system before the government is capped or the government is capped and the collapse is headed off. The main concern is if another revolution takes over. Revolutions generally end badly.
According to Malaclypse the Younger, society passes through five repeating stages:
Anarchy
Monarchy
Oligarchy
Democracy
Bureaucracy
Guess where we are.
Well the French one certainly did. But the American one seemed to turn out okay....
Here's a beautiful thing a Letter from Janice in Arizona from Glenn Beck's website. Janice "says it all." And my sentiments exactly.
I'm unfamiliar with Malaclypse the Younger. Yet on this model, I'd guess we're at Monarchy, moving at the speed of light to Anarchy.
What do you think LeGrande?
They've got another thing coming.
You betcha, Noumenon!!!!
"Lie down and give up" WHY??? So one can get flattened by the Marxist Meat Puppet's steamroller? One fears to be "hurt" or punished by the gummint? And so won't stand up and resist? Like one is not going to be really, really hurt anyway if one doesn't?
People need to be very clear about what is going on, what's at stake, and what Patriots need to do. Janice from Arizona is very clear on all three scores. She is speaking Truth to Power.
I always hated that trite little phrase when it came out of Maxine Water's mouth. But I must admit it's starting to grow on me a bit.
Well here it is on Barack Hussein's mother tongue:
وأنا لن تقدم
"I will not submit."
Yes. We’re coming for them, Janice.
One way or the other.
We are at Bureaucracy headed to Anarchy.
The only uncertainty we have is timing. Our system could suddenly break down in 2 days, 2 years or 20 years. As a trader I watch this stuff all the time, and I haven’t got a clue. I just know that when I kick the bed, the patient is still breathing.
Thank you for a powerful and beautifully informed lesson in freedom.Your essay deserves publication and distribution at every tea party on the 4th.
Thank you Amos. I appreciate your commentary as well. This is what it takes to reconstruct the foundations of liberty in this country. As this thread shows, we might have our differences, but we all want the same thing.
Because after the shooting’s over, it’s ideas that must prevail. The ideas of liberty, not those of human bondage.
