THE PRESIDENT: ...I actually think that the tougher issue around medical care its a related one is what you do around things like end-of-life care
Yes, where its $20,000 for an extra week of life.
THE PRESIDENT: Exactly. And I just recently went through this. I mean, Ive told this story, maybe not publicly, but when my grandmother got very ill during the campaign, she got cancer; it was determined to be terminal. And about two or three weeks after her diagnosis she fell, broke her hip. It was determined that she might have had a mild stroke, which is what had precipitated the fall.
So now shes in the hospital, and the doctor says, Look, youve got about maybe you have three months, maybe you have six months, maybe you have nine months to live. Because of the weakness of your heart, if you have an operation on your hip there are certain risks that you know, your heart cant take it. On the other hand, if you just sit there with your hip like this, youre just going to waste away and your quality of life will be terrible.
And she elected to get the hip replacement and was fine for about two weeks after the hip replacement, and then suddenly just you know, things fell apart.
I dont know how much that hip replacement cost. I would have paid out of pocket for that hip replacement just because shes my grandmother.

Pissant don’t even have natioalized health care yet and he’s talking about offing people,,,gov’t decree naturely, familt Drs and family members,,,shut up and suck
Maybe they can start with him!
I certainly would not discourage Soros from trying out his euthanasia program on himself. He is getting on, you know.
What kept you from paying for it, bambi? Did you pass some law that prohibited you from doing so? You had the money to pay for it, but let others pick up the tab?
Ok by me.
It is like this:
Health care will become a ‘scarce resource”.
The elderly will be forced to feel guilty using it.
The elderly may not be able to afford it.
In our narcissistic and selfish, greedy, society, those surrounding the elderly will NOT care.
“THE PRESIDENT: ...you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. Its not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And thats part of what I suspect youll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now.”
“In other words, faceless bureaucrats in Washington — not your family — will decide whether your grandparents live or die.”
The last person I want making that life or death decision is an Obamacrat.
YOU NAILED IT, The left says that all “Right wingers” care about is money. When in fact to Hussein and his ilk the ONLY things that matters is the bottom line.

Wow, this is an excellent blogpost!
Isn’t Soros about 80? I doubt if he plans this for himself.
He’s full of crap, he won’t even pay for his brother or illegal alien aunt.
I hate to inform you obama but the person that makes the decisions for my family won’t be you or anyone else. It will be ME and MY FAMILY after we have asked one other person who makes the ultimate decisions over you and everyone else and that my friend is MY GOD and MY GOD ONLY. Not you or anyone else.
Obama: Euthanasia of the elderly may be necessary
Yes in any society run by a Socialist, which is what Obama is, they are big on the idea of killing off the elderly.
Excuse me, let me clarify that. Big on killing off or letting to die, CERTAIN of the elderly.
Rest assured that none of the elderly left todie would be from Obamas family or Clinton or Kennedy’s or Pelosi’sor Schumer’s etc.
We know folks get annoyed and frustrated in dealing with health insurance companies, but it's a far sight better than dealing with having to do ALL of your health care through the State. We were discussing the fact many Grandmas and Grandpas are pushing for government run health care, because theirs is expensive, or they've had problems with their health insurance provider. At some point, we need to sit them down and explain that if the government takes control of health care, and it's paid for with tax dollars, THEY won't have any say at all about their level of care. That decision will be made by the bureaucrats who are looking at the bottom line, and determining that Grandma doesn't really need that hip replacement, because, after all, she's already 85, and doesn't have long to live anyway. Or Grandpa shouldn't get treatment for his prostate cancer because it's expensive, and with his bum ticker, he's likely to die in the next couple of years anyway.
It's insidious, and folks need to be made aware of what the outcome for them and their loved ones will be under government run health care.
I understand why people feel this way, but it seems to me a lot of people don’t want to face the fact that there is a real paradox that can’t be avoided: many take a strong at pro-life position which in effect requires providing unlimited care at unlimited cost irrespective of its effectiveness at prolonging life, but they also want low taxes and a small government footprint, while it’s the government via Medicare Medicare that ends up providing and would continue to have to provide such care for the vast majority of the elderly who could not afford private health insurance providing such coverage.
This is really unpleasant dilemma, we end up spending a disproportionately large percentage of health care dollars providing what are often essentially futile treatments for those with an extremely poor prognosis and then complain moan about the cost and the fact the government provides the care, but we don’t want to talk about the alternatives, either.
For the same reason he didn't make sure his aunt got citizenship and moved her out of federal housing. I still have questions about him rushing to her deathbed without Michelle and the girls. Days later she's dead. A few weeks later and he takes Michell and the girls on vacation where granny died. Amazing how the media never got a word out of her or anyone who might have had any contact with her.
Mark.
