Here's the deal, and it's all gone down in the last couple weeks:
-My father has prostate cancer. The good news is it hasn't spread beyond the organ, so he is going for the implanted "seeds" for radiation treatment. I hope this will be as good for him as it was for his much-older brother 5 years ago.
-My sister has major breast cancer. She's been in some pain with "hard breast" for months, but finally last Thurs (26th) a breast specialist told her to come in for MRI/biopsy Monday, for which the biopsy has confirmed cancer. Next they must determine if it has spread - which I am scared about (3 "lumps" included lymph node).
This has all happened together so fast. My mother now per my Dad is beside herself (she doesn't handle bad news well) and SHE has to be careful about setting off all her digestive problems under the stress and emotion. I too have several digestive problems, so it's as if we are all at least somewhat "hog-tied" by health.
I am worried about my father, because while I'm glad he knows he has his own grandson now (sister is really "half"), I'd really like him to be around for George to remember, and for Dad to just have fun with him.
My sister is just a great person and I love her alot. She was the "disco queen" I idolized as a kid - and fought with over TV. She still has twins in school and this can be devastating for them. Sis herself has not had a great few years - including finding out (on his birthday) her husband was messing around on-line with hopes of "liasions". (She's sticking it out, and attending his counseling, but it's a nightmare to combine all that grief with health grief too.) Again, I'd like my son to remember her, because she sure gets a kick out of him now.
Really looking for lots of help, if God wills it.

But. I would never do the implanted seeds. There is nothing about radiation that is good for you. My father in law did it and got leukemia.
I would do the new robotic surgery, which is wildly successful. In a heartbeat.

Will be praying for you. Our family went through several months that it seemed as though we had a target painted on our backs. Mostly better now, though it would be great if doctors could figure out why my daughter has dizzy spells.
May God keep your family faithful and strong as you go through the valley, and bring you once again to the mountain peak.

There have been advances in all these areas. I trust all will be well and may God shower you all with blessings.
Prayers for your family. The radioactive seeds for the prostate is a minor procedure and generally works out real well. I had an uncle who had it done years ago and it was worked great. Rudy Guiliani had it done at least 5 or 6 years ago. If the cancer is confined to the prostate then it should not be a big deal.
Prayers for you and your family. Try to take life just an hour at a time until you can bear more. You will keep being surprised that you made it with some grace through each hour and day. May God Bless You and Yours....
A friend had the prostate seeds, had excellent outcome, that was 4-5 years ago, at least.
