This is a time when I need your prayers. I haven’t in the past really given any details about my life. Just the superficial stuff that anyone who meets me might see. I am going to share information that I normally might not, but our family needs your prayers.
Max is going into the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He tried to hurt himself yesterday by jumping out his bedroom window. Thankfully, as I pointed out jokingly some time back, the only possible harm one might incur by defenestrating one’s self at our house is a sprained ankle (which is indeed what has occurred). Nonetheless, despite no real physical damage being done, we obviously have to address the profound emotional distress that impelled him to try to hurt himself.
I have been in that black cave where one sees no hint of light and no possible exit. I have felt the desire simply to go to sleep and never wake up, to know final peace. I know what to do for myself when I begin sliding down into the depths. What I don’t know is what to do with a child who is experiencing that despair. So we are seeking help. And I ask for your prayers and thoughts to be with us and Max, so that he may find sunlight again.
How old is he?

My wife and I will pray for you and Max right now. We suffered the loss of a daughter to the effects of mental illness. Please be aware that God has not abandoned you or Max regardless of what you see.
I and others in my family have dealt with children who were desparately unhappy and emotionally ill. I think I understand the hell you are experiencing. My prayers for Max and for you.
While worrying about Max, remember you must do what you have to do to make yourself strong and clear so you can make the best possible decisions that lie ahead of you.

Oh, honey, so many, many prayers for you, Max, and your family. I do hope he can get the help he needs. I’ll pray for God’s hand to completely intervene and for his comfort for all of you! <3
