The Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations recently presented a report about how hate crimes stacked up in Los Angeles County for the year of 2006. The report came back with some interesting figures on the rising tensions between African-American and Latino communities. Hate crimes directed towards African-Americans have been on the rise leading many to abandon their communities. According to an analysis by Manuel Pastor, a University of California, Santa Cruz professor, the Highland Park area was 80 percent black and 20 percent Hispanic in 1980. By 2000, it was 60 percent Hispanic, 40 percent black.

I still get a kick out of how the libs made “Latinos” something other than Caucasians . . . what a shock that must have been . . . but, of course, if they can get gummit’ freebies, then why not?

Unfortunately, they put aside their differences long enough to vote for the politician who promises to take the most money from Whitey and give it to them.

They are not Caucasians. They are Mestizos, which is a mix of European (mostly Spanish/Portuguese) and Amerindian.

"According to an analysis by Manuel Pastor, a University of California, Santa Cruz professor, the Highland Park area was 80 percent black and 20 percent Hispanic in 1980"

Gross and inaccurate generalization. Not one caucasian or asian was there in 1980? Precise 4 to 1 relative statistics of black to hispanic? Not likely!

Talk to the Jamiel Shaw family and hundreds like them who have been murdered by Latino gangbangers for no other reason than NOT being Latino. The new latino immigrants are the most racist group I’ve ever witnessed.

Another distraction from this problem called “the War on Drugs”. If these groups all come together and sing “It’s a small world after all”, I’m sure everything will be hunky dory. Meanwhile, let’s see what new drug war victories our incoming (ex?-druggy) president brings about.

“In the early 1990s a struggle for identity amongst African-Americans could be seen in the rise in drugs, gang membership and violence in Los Angeles.”

Huh?

GANGS are the culprit.

Families are being attacked and kids are looking for the acceptance of family, so they drift into gang-families.

It’s probably simpler than the psychologists want to admit. Strengthen the family, end many of the gang activity hate-crimes.

Is it really “hate” or is it just “crime?”

“Latinos; they are not Caucasians. They are Mestizos, which is a mix of European (mostly Spanish/Portuguese) and Amerindian. “

Oink! What if we just called them Americans (that is, if they’re citizens) . . . would that do for the libs?

Of course most Caucasians aren’t Caucasians either—except for Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Georgians, Ossetians, and a few other groups. Why did that become a synonym for “white”?

While I do take those figures as being approximations, I don't doubt that they're reasonably close ones.

Given the area, the combined number of Caucasian and Asian residents probably amounts to little more than a rounding error in statistical terms.

True, although the preponderance of those arriving in Southern California from Mexico and Central America may well be.

My Spanish-speaking church congregation includes people who are obviously Maya or Aztec, among the Mexicans: they look just like the carvings. We have Peruvians with distinctive Inca features. Colombians, Argentinians, and Puerto Ricans, along with some of the Mexicans, often look like undifferentiated "white" Americans; often more tan than I am, but not more than those of my children who picked up the Cherokee skin tone from their dad. Panamanians and Cubans can appear pure European, or be black.

especially now, in these financial difficult times, when more and more (African-) Americans are willing to work those jobs that are usually occupied by (illegal) latino immigratns.
