I'm getting some hot sauces shipped to me over the next couple of days, and wanted to get some opinions from folks who have either tried them or in some ways experienced them.
One set I'm getting is from Dave's Gourmet, i.e. the guy who created the "Insanity sauce" and the "ultimate insanity sauce". The batch I'm getting is the spicy 6 pack which is Roasted Pepper & Chipotle Sauce, Roasted Garlic Hot Sauce, Scotch Bonnet Sauce, Insanity Sauce, Cool Cayenne Sauce and Hurtin Jalapeno Sauce.
Has anyone here ever tried any of these sauces and does anyone have an opinion on their quality, taste, flavor and heat?
The other batch that I am getting is from Blairs.
From them I am getting the "super 6 pack" which is the Death sauce, the Muerte sauce, the After Death sauce, the Jalapeno Death sauce, the Sweet Death sauce And the Sudden Death sauce and also, I'm getting the soon to be discontinued Jersey death sauce.
I'm aware that buying products that imply impending doom or shortening of life, may not be the best consumer decision.
Has anyone tried the Blair hot sauces, and have any opinions on them, either on their flavor, or heat or anything?
I like hot sauces, I don’t shy away from heat, and like most on this thread I can drink Tabasco straight. (About all it’s good for anyway.)
However, Try as I may, I cannot use Dave’s or any other multi-million scoville hot sauces. You’re better off just spraying Mace on your tongue.
Frank’s has a good flavor, but not much heat. Add some Tobasco for the heat.
My daily favorite is a brand of Louisiana Hot Sauce sold by Aldi’s. Not too much heat, good flavor, and enough vinegar kick to add that little something extra.
I love that stuff. I put it on practically anything we stir-fry in the house - my wife thinks I'm nuts... :0)
One day at a time...
not necessarily an opinion, but a word of advice: Preparation H is in a tube, Tabasco is in a bottle...
From my hometown.
You should try it. It is far and away the best general purpose hotsauce available. Its about as hot as Tobasco, but has more flavor to it.
I worked in New Iberia for twenty years ... lived in Lafayette.
Cholula is pretty good. I don’t think it’s quite as hot as Tabasco and the flavor is much better. About all I use Tabasco for is green beans and salad.
Howdy stranger!!!!
Yup, I still make my own hot sauces and hot pepper jellies!!
Now to read the thread!!!!
Personally, they all taste like kerosene to me. It must be the type of vinegar they use or something in their processing, because the peppers themselves are just fine in other brands of sauces.
For basic every day table hot sauces we use Crystal, Marie Sharp's, Texas Pete's, and several different ones from Jamaica.
At any given time there are at least 20 different hot sauces in the house, with at least half of them open!
And that doesn't include the ones I concoct myself. I'm working on 2 new ones right now.
I like Marie Sharp’s Habanero Sauce. It has a real good taste and is not insanely hot. It’s actually edible, unlike some of the really hot sauces.

We love all of the Marie Sharp's sauces. And you are correct, it is for the flavors, not the heat.
I went and looked, and sure enough I had bookmarked your friend's site not that long ago, although I haven't had much time to explore it.
