I’d vote for him as vice-president, at least.

Excellent post! I’m voting for Duncan Hunter come hell or high water. I wish everyone could see this article.
In my humble opinion, Hunter’s main problem is the MSM. They pick their favorites and promote them with all kinds of coverage. The average person might never know how strongly he stands out from the pack.
I was never really interested in politics for many years.
No American can afford to be that way anymore. For you long-timers who are well-read on these matters, bear with me as I am still learning.
I am very thankful for this site and others like it that get all of the information out there, not just what they want us to know. If I hadn’t stumbled over here recently, I would have been lost as to who my vote should go to.
I have little faith in the “front-runners”, and do not wish to gamble with our future. Learning who Duncan Hunter is and what he stands for(a loud resounding US!)has helped me so much. I can cast my vote with good conscience and vast hope for our future instead of voting for the lesser of many evils and hoping it will turn out okay. As far as I’m concerned, he’s fighting for us everyday, and that’s enough for me. He doesn’t have to promise to fight for us. His record proves that he does it already. He won’t make fools of us with Dubai, shamnesty and PC appeasement that will only jeopardize us all in the long run. (Not bashing Bush here, just very unhappy with some of the things he’s done. I voted for him twice.)
I’m telling everyone I know. Unfortunately, I don’t know that many people. But all of us Hunterheads tell everyone we know the word will get out, and he will overcome the bias of the MSM and take off. If enough of us start talking about him and supporting him, MSM can’t continue to ignore him. I think some people are hoping if they ignore him he’ll just go away. I think a lot of people might just be afraid of him. He stands for what is right.
Most people, sadly enough, don’t like you if you do that.

The conservative talk show hosts seem to like Duncan Hunter, but seem to be afraid to “stick their necks out.”

Very, very powerful article.
Thanks for the post. I may even drop Hunter a $20 in donations.

Excellent treatise. However, it overlooks one key factor: cowardice.
Many, if not most, of those who adopt the “he’s great but he can’t win” position have been provided these same arguments repeatedly by members of this forum, but the fundamental lack of stomach for an uphill battle renders all reasoned arguments moot.

I'm getting tired of being told I must support a candidate that doesn't have a cold chance in hell of winning his nomination, let alone the Presidency.

If Congressman and Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter had a dollar for every conservative who said "Gee, Hunter is really great, but he doesn't have traction", or, "Yeah, he may be the most conservative, but he can't win", the Hunter Campaign would be leading the 2008 money race." Very true. I've sent my $500.
We can support candidates like Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo, or we can sit by and watch the insiders eat our lunch as they promote Republicrats.

Unlike previous Viet Nam veterans who ran on the Democrat ticket, Duncan doesn’t brag about his service. He always says he didn’t do anything special.
A very humble man deserving of our support.
Since he was a Ranger and there about the same time I was, I’d lay money that his service was a bit more than “not anything special.”

Comparing Rudy and Mitt to Duncan Hunter would be a joke under normal circumstances. However, since Hillary-scare has made both initially "viable", Hunter will have to defeat these men just the same as the others. Rudy and Mitt have a combined goose egg for military experience. Worse, they have never been involved in any capacity that challenged them to seriously consider our foreign policy. Their executive experience consisted of dealing with the mundane; such as school boards and transit, tobacco taxes and fire and police departments, etc. They may have done so competently, but that does not translate to Presidential duties. When issues of national and constitutional urgency were thrust into their laps, neither man stood tall.

I just sent another e-mail to our local conservative talk show hosts. Why don’t they talk about Duncan Hunter? The OBVIOUS best choice for the job!! The ironic thing is - he represents everything they stand for and talk about on their radio show!
- build a fence
- pro-life
- standing up for gun-owners rights
- stand strong on the Iraq war
- free Compean and Ramos
- the Fair Tax
and on and on and on. I don’t think there’s even ONE issue they would be in disagreement with him on!
