Saw this from Digg:
The National Organization for Women (NOW) and other women advocacy groups have filed suit against the Bush Administration seeking to abolish Fathers Day. During a press conference held after the filing of the lawsuit, Kim Gandy of NOW said, "the day clearly indicates that it is meant to recognize only fathers."The American Civil Liberties Union, filing on behalf of the organizations said the day runs afoul of equal protection and Title IX provisions and should be abolished because it is discriminatory against women. "It is time to move beyond the pattern male discrimination against women so prevalent in the home and the workplace," according to a press release.

NOW should jump off a cliff.
You have got the be f’ing KIDDING me!
Glad I saw he humor topic in your post. I’m not in a particularly good mood and this ticked me off until I spotted it. Good one.
What about Mother’s Day?
Funny, I do not recall them suing to end mother’s day. Just goes to show you, the nag gals are REAL MOTHERS!
LOL!
Sad commentary that I actually thought this was real...
Um. You forgot to mention that this is SATIRE. Says so at the link.
re; #6
OOOOOPS!!!! NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY!!!!!
re: #9
Don’t feel bad. When it comes to that gang of crazies and their legal crows, it is so VERY easy to believe the incredible.
I was fooled until I saw the Satire at the top. I believe I’ll keep the article bookmarked and read it in ten years to see if it’s true then.
absurd ping.
Too possible to be very funny, unfortunately. People want to sue over the stupidest things anymore... like the Judge and his poor pants.
That’s what makes good satire, arguably... something close enough to be believable, yet obviously absurd.
I think this originally started as a a daughters effort (like Mother’s Day) and then blossomed as a ‘Hallmark Cards’ idea. And hey wait a minute ... Mother’s Day is discriminatory toward men
Fine. Abolish it and Mothers Day can be renamed to Wednesday or Thursday but abolished also.
SCRU the ACLU
Good satire
