Frequently readers post comments with racial slurs such as raghead and mooselimbs, racist anecdotes, castration, charges of a low intellect, wiping their rear with the Koran, calls for a new crusade, violence towards and mass murder of all Muslims, the destruction of Islam and white supremacist-esque language like Its time we asserted our culture and moral and cultural superiority. It seems that liberals are now by definition terrorists and labeled as such. They speak of Arabs and Muslims in much the same ways that a racist southerner would speak of blacks in the 1950s.
Responsible? Not quite.

I can understand the hateful rhetoric, but it's not racism or prejudice against Christianity in the sense that it's not maligning an ethnicity and it's not condemning an entire religion, just the use of religion in a political leader's decisions and course of action in a land populated by diverse beliefs. Yes, fundamental Islam (Wahabbism (sic) in particular) is the motivator for terrorist activity, but it is not stated by the Islamic community as a united front.
We shouldn't play tennis with these points, but engage our behavior and elevate the argument past this playground and caffeinated banter that gets littered on these sites.

Lovely tagline, by the way. (Far right, elitist, sexist, cynical religious bigot and looter) I'm sure there's a tinge of sarcasm in that, but it's what I was hoping to address by posting this to begin with.

When you have no or inadequate information, generalizing can save your life when you do not have the luxury to wait for new information. When we are dealing with children, we teach them that all stove burners are HOT and never to cross any roads.
When they are able to obtain and process additional information we teach them to make distinctions. This process of starting with generalizations and moving toward distinctions is built into our survival genes.
This recent concept that ALL generalization is wrong is not only nuts its easily proved that no sane person does it in everyday life.
What is wrong is the refusal to move from generalization to distinction when new proved information is obtained. Then it becomes bigotry. Before then its perfectly rational.

Much like I've done by posting this linked and footnoted article. Can we begin discussing it now or are we going to dance around the issue all night?

"If we are not going to discuss the article I posted, then let's just stop talking to each other."
Okay.
"I wanted debate and I got a bunch of cats with their tails flared out. If you don't like what you read then let's simply move on."
Fine.

Heck, he should watch DU for comments about minorities who do not accept the roles expected of them by the left.
