Rarely have the title and tone of a missive clashed so directly as in this DUmmie THREAD "victoriously" titled, "We are winning! Keep up the good fight! BUSHCO is going down..." To read the title, one would think the DUmmies are on the verge of finally defeating the EVIL Bush Regime. However, when one actually READS the thread itself, it is chock full of ANGRY defeatism. Yeah, DUmmies, you can all relax. You ARE winning...NOT! Even you DUmmies are not at all convinced by the "upbeat" title of the thread. Once again the "victorious" DUmmie rantings are in a very ANGRY Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, telling the DUmmies that the white flag you see waving before you is actually a Depends you will be needing, is in the [brackets]:

I go from hopeful to defeated quite frequently these days. Some days it's just so hard to believe anything will ever turn the tide, when so many outrageous crimes against democracy and humanity are committed in front of our eyes every day, and people just shrug. Sometimes I want to crawl into a hole and not come out. But there are better days as well. I think a lot of us go through this.

I have a lot work to do. Do you think we are going to win elections on freakin' Jack Abramoff? The spin is already in that he is attached to Dems as well - even if it isn't true. I want to be hopeful...I really do. And I try to be hopeful. But what frightens and depresses me more than anything is the seemingly uncanny ability of the "official" Democratic party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm just not sure any more they WANT to win. They never seem to go on the offensive and stay on the offensive when it matters.
[The most recent snatching defeat from victory routine was accomplished when the Democrats stabbed Paul Hackett in the back thus ensuring that the GOP will keep their Ohio senate seat.]
Lets say we win in 06, impeach Bush. Great, President Cheney! - also the country just doesn't like impeachment proceedings no matter what.

That's just a knee-jerk reaction, thanks mainly to the misreporting (once again) of this story by the LameStream Media. Most Americans are clueless when it comes to how ports are managed in this country. So was I, until this story broke and I started wading through all of the info I was getting, pro and con, from various sources. The media would have us believe that the U.S. is handing responsibility for port security over to the UAE. We're not. The Port Authority and the Coast Guard still handle security. And that's not the only thing about this that the media has been misreporting. Apparently, this is a lease of some berths in a port that are managed by Great Britain, and the lease is being sold to UAE. The MSM makes it sound like the whole port is being sold. And apparently, there have been foreign companies owning such berths for years, and all of a sudden, it's Bush's fault? Every new story that comes out is the "next thing that will FINALLY bring down the eeeeeeeeevil Bush Regime and cause Bush and Cheney to either resign or be impeached".
I just wish the Bush Admin had gotten ahead of the story before it could be spun to be something that it's not.
One of the problems was that they were on the defensive all week over BirdshotGate.
Once the "OMG! ARE YOU PEOPLE NUTS????" reaction dies down as people get the REAL info, I think those poll numbers will turn around. It might even end up biting the RATS in the butt.
The problem is that the administration can't communicate effectively. They have consistently had this problem and its not going to change before the 2006 or 2008 election.
The good news is that the GOP still won in the 2000, 2002, and 2004 elections.
The president was asked about the deal and said it's a done deal and he will veto any attempt to block it.
Then we hear he didn't even know much about it.

The Bush admin can't communicate well, at all. They are caught flatfooted and defensive very often. They appear secretive even when they don't have to. Some of Dubya's decisions come off as strange even to his supporters.
All this flatly sucks. Dubya's popularity have been in the dumps for almost a year now. No signs of life, sorry.
I hope for the best but the stage is very clearly set for a GOP bloodletting and a remarkable rejection of the GOP status quo in 2006.

But what we DON'T know is if statement #2 was even true! I find it very hard to believe, myself. We have so many recent examples of the media simply distorting the facts, or hearing what they want to hear, that what they initially feed us is CRAP! Then it takes a week or more for the truth to come out.
