In his most informative speech to date, President Bush took it to a new level in the first press conference of his second term. Having been one who has complained about Bush's lack of specificity on Social Security reform I was really impressed with everything about his presentation. He is definitely improving his facial expressions, his gesticulation to go along with setting up the Democrats with another nail in their coffin. He literally did a tour de force on privatization. He definitely was opening the second act of his play. Now if he can only stop walking without flapping his elbows like he is about to break out and give us his rendition of the "funky chicken" everything would be perfect.
The success of his speech can be measured by the degree of the negative response he got from the far left MSM. To compare the negative here is a positive header from the conservative Washington Times:
President Bush last night proposed increasing Social Security benefits for low-income retirees more quickly than payments to "people who are better off" but said current workers can "count on a benefit equal to or higher than today's seniors."
Now anyone who listened to the conference knows that Bush was doing something for the poor in America. Yet here are some headlines from your American MSM lefties.
AOL---------------------Bush Cuts Social Security Benefits
NYT---------------------Bush Cites Plan That Would Cut Social Security
Washington Post---------Bush Social Security Plan Would Cut Benefits
The reality is, as Democrats know all too well, there will be no cut in benefits. Only a reduction in the enormity of benefits available to "rich" people. Poor people will be favored; given more of the pie than others. An unequal outcome that is very charitable. And very Republican. Just remember, Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation the centerpiece of his reelection in 1864; and he won. That was the first step. A Republican named Earl Warren leveled the playing field a hundred years later. In that grand tradition comes another Republican, George W. Bush, to insist everyone gets a nest egg and a piece of the American Dream. But this time he is not limiting the benefits to just blacks. It is a win-win for everyone...except the Party of the Donkey.

Bush promete un retiro justo

WASHINGTON, D.C.

President George W. Bush assured last night that, with its plan of reform of the Social Insurance, "nobody will retire in poverty", because the benefits will adjust so that they favor more to the workers of smaller economic resources on those of the workers of elevated income. "If you work hard, one will not retire in the poverty", he affirmed Bush in press conference in the White House.
This would be obtained by means of formulas according to which the medium pensioners of and high resources would obtain benefits smaller than the present ones. The President, however, did not enter details. "Everything will be part of the negotiation", said.
In his first press conference in schedule of greater east hearing year - fourth of his Bush presidency it did not clear the finger of the line in his proposal to create voluntary private accounts of investment for younger workers in spite of the poor reception that its plan has had between the population and although the democrats have indicated that they will not negotiate until the proposal retires of the table.
The press conference took place in the day eve first 100 of the second presidential period of Bush. However, Bush gave a turn to its plan saying that the voluntary accounts "would suplementarían the check of Social Insurance". That is to say, which they would be added to the Social Insurance, although it did not indicate how they would finance.
The democrats have indicated that they would consider some version of the accounts as long as they do not finance with part of the tax on list that divides between patronos and employees. Bush added that the investment options would be "simple and easy to understand". One of those options of investment would be treasury bonds of the United States.
"My promise for the Americans is that I will follow ahead with this subject because I know that it is important for you", Bush said
"That is to say, which they would be added to the Social Insurance, although it did not indicate how they would finance. "
That was my biggest complaint - nothing really new or concrete about his entire speech. Just the same talking points he's been trying - and failing - to sell to the American public for several months now.
I wish that any plan would allow me to immediately have MY money, rather than waste away in SS or be seized for some 'personal account'. If it's for my 'personal account', let me have it NOW.
So, socialism lives on under President Bush. The ole take from the evil rich and give to the poor continues. Milk the rich, give to the lazy, refuse to work, refuse to get training, refuse to get an education, refuse to get a job, refuse to plan for themselves, refuse to get off the couch, yet draw benefits paid for by another. Yup, socialism, pure and simple. The take from one to give to another. Bush is being a really good democrat on this domestic money taking and giving programs.
The people who watched realized ideas for solutions rather than complaints about everything suggested thus far. The solutions presented might not overcome all problems in the short term but they will lay foundations for things to happen. The speech effectively puts the DNC in a position to offer alternative proposals and quit complaining.
