A new national poll suggests Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida topping Democratic President Biden in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election matchup.

However, the same poll suggests that Biden leads former President Trump.

The survey from the Suffolk University and USA Today also indicates that Republican voters would prefer DeSantis over Trump as their standard-bearer in 2024 by double digits. …

Not that I’ve heard. I am not assuming and we are 2 years out, I’ll commit when it’s time. Lots of folks too eager to get this party started (pushed by the msm) when most folks want a break after 2022. They are stretching it out for burn out. By the time the primaries roll around folks will have turned out.

How did DeSantis flip Miami-Dade from blue to red? Did he spread some Ron DeSantis fairy dust over the county?

Was that the same county that Pres Trump was holding rallies for with Rubio? I one showed up for them because DeSantis had already spread his fairy dust, I guess.

Or maybe, just maybe, the folks of Miami-Dade can think for themselves. They’re smart enough to recognize how good things were 2 years before. Yes, DeSantis deserves a great deal of credit.

But, man the worship of a man who has the entire deck stacked in his favor is bordering on weird.

We won the house thanks to New York Supreme Court and California as crazy as it sounds.

How did DeSantis flip Miami-Dade from blue to red?

He had a consistent practical conservative message without gaffes. He was attractive to Hispanic voters and persuaded them to vote Republican.

Some of Republicans’ biggest gains came in Hispanic-majority areas around Miami and Orlando. DeSantis has said that many of those newcomers were drawn by his decision to reopen schools and businesses in July 2020, far earlier than most states, joining the ranks of his supporters.

“We benefited from the flow of people into Florida during the pandemic,” said Ryan Tyson, the governor’s senior political adviser.

“We have beaten Democrats on new registrants for 29 months in a row,” said Tyson, who worked on the voter registration efforts.

Did it all by himself. No help from anyone.

He’s done a good job. Seems like he’s continuing to do a good job.

What separates him from every other “Republican” Governor. He actually does what the people who voted for asked him to do.

But of course, no one else had anything to do with it. Nobody.

The difference between DeSantis and many others who lost that night are that he gained voters instead of losing them. He did not alienate others unnecessarily. He won Miami Dade. That was huge, and check out his margins in the rest of Florida. He persuaded people to vote for him without persuading a greater number to vote against him. If he could approach those numbers nationally it would be a decisive victory with coattails. Even Marco Rubio did much better with DeSantis at the head of the ticket.

OMG. You people. I’m not saying he did or is didn’t a lousy job.

But…

He didn’t have half the state hating his guts or wanting him in prison m

He didn’t have half the legislature hating his guts and wanting him in prison

He didn’t have his AG participating in a fraudulent investigation to put him in prison

He wasn’t impeached on phony chargers

What did and does he have.

A solidly Republican state. 1000s moving there that were a republicans before they got here. Legislative, administrative, county, city and town government folks that all wanted the same things. And they supported him.

Basically little, to ZERO opposition.

If Pres Trump had that, where would this country be? Certainly not where it is now.

And that my friends is the baggage Trump carries and will continue to carry. Heck he even has the Tax issues from NY now.

I am sorry but there is no way I can believe that in today’s economy Biden is only 4% behind DeSantis.

Your argument is strong, qaz123.

Trump's entire political and business career has been a fight against incredible odds -- his opposition has always been there to knock him down.  New York City, Chicago: the fight to build skyscrapers in those cities was an incredible feat of determination, promotional savvy, and brains.

And at every step of the way Trump's fortune was at risk.  How much does a lawyer risk when he's the darling of Wall Street donors and Trump-hating RINOs?  Did the lawyer have much trouble raising re-election money with those kinds of friends?

Trouble is: who owns the lawyer in the long run?  Can you put up a fight against Washington's Uniparty with those kind of "friends"?  Ask Romney, Ryan, and Cruz.  They know what it's like to be under the thumb of donors like Golden Sacks or Warren "All-You-Eat" Buffet.

In 2017, I put together a vanity about Trump's achievement in Chicago:

An Architectural & Business Masterpiece: Trump Tower in Chicago

THe “problem with Trump” is the fact that he is completely transparent because he has been in the public eye for a very long time, more than 40 years. That gives Trump a status like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como or Dean Martin, an icon in the public eye. So he can h9de very little about his history and personal life. This is not a bad thing.

But the down side is that public image of the Donald can be tweaked by his political enemies, of whom he hard far
prior to his policy successes while in office. The more he was attacked, the better the economy and national security became.

All of that requires one to separate Trumps alleged conduct, brashness, womanizing, family building, etc to examine the success of his policy and work ethic.

Trump is a driver. He demands results or else staff who fail to deliver are fired. Not business as usual. Plus the man only sleeps three to four hours a day, and how he does that with such a gorgeous wife, nobody knows, so there is mystery to Trump, He is exceedingly strong. He puts the civil service in deep terror. A good thing. He actually made them work after reducing their size as much as possible.Woe is me! ( sarc.)

For those who fail to look past all of the Trump imagery to see how effective his policy and style of wrangling the bureaucracy truly are, they become Trump doubters and Trump haters. The worst of them become infected with Trump derangement syndrome.Adults become emotionally fraught children. Its laughable and perhaps the most humorous aspect of the woke socialist Trump Era if it were not for their fall into a totalitarian state with federal agencies weaponized against the People, including the so called Biden presidency.

Like most ardent Trump supporters,I laud his ability to troll his opposition giving him wide ranging free publicity.

Looking down the longer halls of American History , who is President Trump? He is a man of the people, who did not seek public office until he saw America brought low by Barrack Obama. Then he rebuilt America, despite huge odds against him. And he deserves another stint. For President Trump is a modern version of men like Francis Marion or even Samuel Adams.

We are exceedingly lucky to have Trump. His power is evident in the very fact that no viable candidate from within the GOP has announced that they will oppose his run for the presidency. Those RINOS who oppose him smile with beatitude to his face awaiting the first opportunity to stab him in the back, garnering the disrespect and hatred of the People.

And the Dems, terrorized by the specter of a man truly of the People, have weaponized every agency they control against Trump and have failed and will continue to fail. They do him the favor of keeping Trump in the public eye.

The key, be analytical. Separate the negative imagery and caterwauling publicity from the success of work and policy. Then Trump becomes a burning brand, a sword of righteousness returning us to Constitutional government and freedom despite the lefts move to vanquish our nation state and move to a NWO and World government conquest .

And Trump is not the first to be supposedly made a fool of by a deep desire for women who seek his company. Founding father Benjamin Franklin, during his appointment as ambassador to France was known to have a huge following among the talented Mistresses of Paris. Franklin had quite a reputation as having multiple lovers and partners, BUT as a result was much in demand by his political confreres in Paris. If the press was in that time as invasive as today’s, his political opposition would have composed a fake dossier similar to the more modern lie, the Steele dossier so that Franklin would go down in history as a fool. But that did not happen and America received its armaments from France for many decades to secure its position as a newly minted nation state, thanks to Benjamin Franklin’s strong sex drive in part. He was very popular..But now America has become full of twisted People who call themselves Americans when they are not.People who wrongly stigmatize Trump simply because he was a stud in his younger days. Its quite laughable.

President Trump is one of the greatest presidents America has had, and its time to recognize that fact and praise him in public.

Wonderful commentary, Candor7.  I think you captured one of the unique aspects of Trump's strength -- he came out of the business world with a special set of skills -- way over the heads of politicians, media liars, and Uniparty RINOs.

The attempt to elevate Duke De Saint to a higher level than Trump, the MAGA King, is flawed because America's patriots -- the millions of Deplorables -- have already chosen Trump as their leader and they love the glorious accomplishments in achieved in office as their President.

Trump is NO Wall Street or Fortune 500 wonderboy, either.  Rather he's in that special class of entrepreneurs who made it big time on their own -- a self-made success risking his own fortune to fame and the highest success imaginable -- leader of the free world.

You mentioned an entrepreneur of another age, Ben Franklin, and there are strong parallels between the men which I attempted to show in a vanity I wrote in early 2016:

Ben Franklin & Trump: Bringing Business Smarts & Pride in Workmanship to Government
