The Civil War is about to loom very large in the popular memory. We would do well to be candid about its causes and not allow the distortions of contemporary politics or long-standing myths to cloud our understanding of why the nation fell apart.
The coming year will mark the 150th anniversary of the onset of the conflict, which is usually dated to April 12, 1861, when Confederate batteries opened fire at 4:30 a.m. on federal troops occupying Fort Sumter. Union forces surrendered the next day, after 34 hours of shelling.

It wasn’t his/her catch. moe-jo just came around later to pick at the bones.
There are saints in/from the North?! :o
Interesting that, in the rush of vitriol over verisimilitude this morning, none of the LCL’s have chosen to respond to that inconvenient truth.
Oh wait - there was one oblique reference here: “If that’s the case, how can you support the unconstitutional federal intrusion into legal Southern labor practices?”
Simple-minded to the point of imbecility, but it does demonstrate the cognitive dissonance necessary to defend their Lost Cause nirvana. They must prefer pretzel logic because it reminds them of food ;-)
Occam's Razor.
Of course, that doesn't work for you yankee neo-cons. It's easier for you to hide your lies when you wrap them up in convoluted, long-winded nuance as practiced by John F'n Kerry, obama, etc.
BTW, how many Southern states will you be born and raised in by the end of 2011?
If you check Thumpers past posts, he’s not a CW thread’s poster. I have to wonder why he showed up on Trumandogz’s(also not a CW thread poster). Rather odd I would say, especially in light of the fact that NS tried to use his reserve 2001 screen name. Makes me go hmmm. Thumper’s been called a troll on many other threads which I also find interesting.
On MSNBC McCain just told press this would be their last trip on this airplane

Well.................
As a former Marxist, I can tell you that voting for any Marxist is the stupidest thing anyone could ever do. I can understand the frustration. But, never, ever give any Marxist a single angstrom. You may live long enough to regret it.

Conservatives will only become winners and victors when they cease to be cowards, wimps, pu$$ies and Milquetoast Tinkerbells.
Hasn’t any conservative ever read Alinksy?

Revolt?
I doubt it.
Americans are spineless and weak. Americans will sit back and take it....and enjoy it. Then move on to something else to whine about.
Just another typical Marxist drama queen. :)
I really need to stay away from these threads..prefer the Obama eligibility ones. Since my distant gggrandfather was a Confederate soldier it is difficult to stay away. Some years ago..these threads were 10,000 plus posts.
“accuse the opposition of what you are doing” ..
Seems to be outing a few more here .. Maybe a few more incoming (or should I say outgoing) zots?
Some of these posts are literally giving me a headache :/
He’s out of control. Once a Marxist always a Marxist. They never change.
Lincoln was president and had blood on his hands. He waged war on other Americans as a sitting President. Its hard to imagine today how deadly the War of Northern Aggression really was. The numbers are staggeringapproximately 620,000 dead soldiers, at least 50,000 dead civilians, an estimated 6 million pounds of human and animal carcasses at Gettysburg, can’t convey the concrete horror of a nation living day after day with the shock, disorientation, and despair caused by the bloodiest war in the country’s history. The war years surely did transform the nation into a republic of suffering. The number of Civil War soldiers who died is about equal to the number of American dead from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, and Korea combined. Carnage caused by an American President. Stunning. I hope Sherman and Lincoln are deservedly rotting in hell.
Our boy Thumper is a nasty one, and if the mods sympathize with you and him, well, I can’t do anything about it except acknowledge that the pool table is listing a bit.

Yeah, I’m starting to wonder how many “back-up” names N-S has.... :/
Bikk
If it wasn’t for all of you damn marxist hippies from 30 years ago we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Pow! Bingo!
Happy New Year to you and your family too!
I never said I did! 2 other FReepers caught it. Joined by many others, we just put the info together to prove it and made sure it got into the right hands. I can see you’re still in mourning. Too bad. Mr. POE.
