Traitor? Treason? [Robert E. Lee]
Old Virginia Blog ^ | 5/10/10 | Richard Williams

Posted on 05/10/2010 3:17:06 PM PDT by Davy Buck

"If Lee was a traitor (and I don't believe he was), he would be the only traitor for which a ship in the United States Navy was ever named. He would be the only traitor in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol. He would be the only traitor whose image was used in a positive way to recruit military personnel to fight and win WWII. Quite an accomplishment for a "traitor", wouldn't you say. . ."

It’s the North that weakens the South, not the other way around.

Secession in 1860 would most assuredly have weakened everyone except for a few slaveowning or copperhead politicians.

It would be the same with secession today.

The President of Texas or the President of the Restored CSA won't find many listeners around the world -- or at home.

It's tempting sometimes to think that splitting up the country would make things better in one half or another.

Cutting the country in half won't make politicians more honest or more responsible, though, and it would mean living in weaker countries in a world dominated by foreign powers.

Look, that’s were you guys run off the rails, I would live in a country of 1,000,000 that was free as the US was in 1787. Due to sentimentality of a once great republic that gone bye-bye,you love power more than freedom.

indicating in the case of the latter that he’d prefer if JD got on the nearest boat out of the country.

So, disHonest Abe sacrificed 600,000+ people to bring them back into the country so that they could get on the nearest boat out of the country which is metaphorically what they did to begin with.

You yanks are a confused bunch............

You’re the one who is confused. There’s a difference between going away and just saying that you’re somewhere else now without actually moving an inch.

Nooooo, you're the one that's confused.

You and the rest of the damn yankee coven are stuck on the notion that you can't make a fresh start without physically moving.

That's like saying that ho-tep can't change his pathetic life unless he calls Mayflower and moves him and his worthless crap to another location. It's absurd.

It’s the North that weakens the South, not the other way around.

It wasn't always true (circa 1775), but it's definitely true now.

I hate to say it, but a lot of the anti-constitutionalist & anti-secessionist types here are probably worried that their individual welfare States will collapse without the (mandatory) financial support provided by their more prosperous neighbors in the South...

You are aware that a rotted stump is more intelligent than the mope you’re talking to, right?

Without the South, who believes that the USA would not already be the USSA? Only a fool or a Yankee. Same thing...

I was most certainly aware of that fact, when I bothered to take the time to reply to your posts on previous threads.

Stump? You would have to climb 40 feet to reach root level...

You’d have Thomas Jefferson banned if he could post from the grave. To you, he was “unhinged”.

You can make a fresh start without moving. It’s called winning your rebellion. You guys rebelled, you lost, and you’ve spent the next hundred and fifty years making us listen to you bitch about how unfair it all is.

"Rebellion?" Prove it for us, sport - cite the constitutional clause that prohibits State secession. If you can't, feel free to defend your point of view, that the Constitution prohibits actions, by States or individuals, that are not even mentioned (and then run back over to DU or the Humpington site, where you usually spend your time)...

It’s the commerce clause. How could the Feds regulate interstate commerce if a state(s) leaves the cartoon republic of America?
