AP ALERT

Posted on 02/21/2006 12:32:20 PM PST by Brian Mosely

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) — President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.

Let me just say to you and to Rush, folks who object to this ARE thinking of all the issues that play into it. It's gets a little old reading posts or listening to blustering radio hosts that infer that we couldn't be as enlightened as you folks are, if we object.

Despite all the but but buts... we object.

I'm certain that, as in any deal, all the players are getting a piece of the pie.

Our country comes first. That is why we are thankful to God that he has given us such an honorable man to lead it...just like we remember warmly the eight years of Ronald Reagan.

At the risk of repeating something that Sen. Lloyd Benson said to Vice President Dan Quayle during their vice presidential debate: I loved Ronald Reagan, I was devoted to Ronald Reagan, I voted for Ronald Reagan...and GEORGE BUSH IS NO RONALD REAGAN! You might have forgotten that George Bush's "Read My Lips" flip-flopping old man once termed the Reagan financial policies that saved this country from depression "voodoo economics" (I suppose that's why he later endorsed a Democratic tax policy that led to one of the worse recessions in our history.)
And, besides, "an "honorable man" does not give away the keys to our port cities, rather, he supports and defends us against "ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN" (foreign, because the U.A.E. has documented ties to Al Qaeda) and domestic like he swore to do when he took his oath of office. I'm certain that Ronald Reagan would have because he was an honorable man!

From a PR point of view, it seems like suicide. For them not to know this is either stpudity . .. . or who the heck knows anymore.

Is it me, or does GWB act like he has a gun to his head like the prez in 24?

I don't think Rush was implying (nor anyone else here) that folks who object aren't as 'enlightened.'

I listened to him carefully yesterday, and he most assuredly did not come out in favor of this agreement.........he was just urging caution and calm about it.

Which, in light of the hysteria and mayhem on this thread of the 'objectors' was a good and necessary thing.

The point being made by most of us was to not overreact before the details of the deal were explained.

Fundamental logic would tell you to do that, but I very much appreciated Rush's saying it for millions to hear.

Basic information about President Bush that you are missing.............he doesn't do things for the PR.

It's not 'stupidity'.....it's principle. He does what he thinks is right. Not what he thinks people will like.

as far as I'm concerned, a lot of racial hatred/bigotry is showing through

I don't hate arabs.

But I have read the Koran. I wouldn't trust a muzzie with Jimmy Carter's life much less my own.

So . . . . doing what is right means giving a forgeign ISLAMIC GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED COMPANY management of the ports????

Ok . . . what is the principal he is trying to prove here?

George W. Bush IS a Ronald Reagan.

And bringing his father into it is non germane. He is not his father.

I understand that you bashers need to keep bringing up 41 to keep your dying arguments alive, but it scores no debate points. It is irrelevant.

President Bush would not make a decision to endanger Americans any more than Ronald Reagan would because they are BOTH honorable men.

There are pieces of this puzzle that you are missing. But I highly doubt that you will look for them and put them in their places. That would require an active thought process, and your mind is clearly made up.

My guess is Bush will win this standoff, and rather easily as the hype gives way to facts.

You know what, I realize that Rush thinks those who object need to calm down. We need to study the isssuuuuuues. We need to be enlightened. We need to be preached down to like ignorant wafes.

Rush isn't doing himself any favors by taking this tone. It's insulting when he does it. It's insulting when people on this forum do it.

We fully understand the issue. We do NOT want a Middle-Eastern nation involved in our ports on ANY level. All the but, but, buts in the world isn't going to change that.

We had significant financial dealings with those nations before 09/11. Despite this 100% of the 19 terrorists came from two of our best allies in the region, disregarding Israel for the moment.

We can still increase our business dealings with those nations, allowing the UAE states to invest in the U.S. if they like, just not in strategic concerns.

Sorry, we can't agree on this one, but we don't. And no Rush, it's not because we're so damned stupid. We're no more stupid that the Maharishi Rushdi.

I'm sorry, but I don't owe any further explanation to a moron like you who called our President "King George."

Look it up for yourself, mr sloganeer.

Sheesh! Too cute by half........typical mindless basher....

Enough.

Rush was only 'taking this tone' if you were being defensive.

Rush never said we were stupid. Rush never said he AGREED.

Take a step back here, DoughtyOne. There is room for disagreement on this one.

President Bush is no Rhetorician, as Reagan was.

I was thinking of Pat Buchanan, who is a Rhetorician as well. Not all who can't understand this President support Buchanan - not in the least - but my point is that along with quite a few who are cranky, never satisfied Buchanan types POLITICALLY, there are probably even more who would be more firm in their understanding and support of the President if he were that Rhetorician that he so clearly is not.

Being Texan myself and liking Western movies and the Western mystique, I appreciate the man as he is, lack of rhetoric and all. But many, many do not associate this with trustworthiness, competence, consistency and effective style of Leadership. They don't have a real sense of the man and Leader like they feel they did with Reagan (the Rhetorician). (Some ARE just naysayers with grudges and axes to grind, largely personal in nature, in my view

The others don't fit that stereotype and might be well meaning, but they do not fathom this President and I have given at least one possible reason WHY.

Well put, D1...

Rush's condescension on the matter is irritating.

This issue is simple common sense.

ANY Muslim nation handling our ports is just plain...poor judgment and not worth the gamble.
