I listened to him carefully yesterday, and he most assuredly did not come out in favor of this agreement.........he was just urging caution and calm about it.
Which, in light of the hysteria and mayhem on this thread of the 'objectors' was a good and necessary thing.
The point being made by most of us was to not overreact before the details of the deal were explained.
Fundamental logic would tell you to do that, but I very much appreciated Rush's saying it for millions to hear.
You know what, I realize that Rush thinks those who object need to calm down. We need to study the isssuuuuuues. We need to be enlightened. We need to be preached down to like ignorant wafes.
Rush isn't doing himself any favors by taking this tone. It's insulting when he does it. It's insulting when people on this forum do it.
We fully understand the issue. We do NOT want a Middle-Eastern nation involved in our ports on ANY level. All the but, but, buts in the world isn't going to change that.
We had significant financial dealings with those nations before 09/11. Despite this 100% of the 19 terrorists came from two of our best allies in the region, disregarding Israel for the moment.
We can still increase our business dealings with those nations, allowing the UAE states to invest in the U.S. if they like, just not in strategic concerns.
Sorry, we can't agree on this one, but we don't. And no Rush, it's not because we're so damned stupid. We're no more stupid that the Maharishi Rushdi.
