Hi, gang,
I was a regular contributor to the Kerry Online Forum and am now a regular contributor to the Common Ground Common Sense forum. I am a liberal, but I'll be the first to admit, I don't have all the answers. In fact, many of hte questions that matter to me probably matter to you too. I'm concerned with questions about how to tame power, whether governmental or corporate. I'm concern with the rule of law and how we can get the powerful to take it seriously. I'm concerned with the erosion of civil liberties. And yes, I am concerned about some things you may associate with liberalism--social safety nets and taking care of those who fall through the institutional cracks.
I'm here because I think agreement is overrated and that critics can be your best friends: they keep you from getting sloppy or careless. At any rate, I think there are things I can learn from you. I don't expect you are all agreed on anything--I expect there is a lot of diversity of opinion here. If you are interested in what I have said over at Common Ground Common Sense, I'm using the same handle both places, and you should feel free to come over and look around.
Anyway, I'm new here. Anybody care to give me a tour?
For starters...
- Property rights, taking of property without compensation. Ooops, those are problems caused by liberals.
-Freedom of assocition: not allowed to join a group as you see fit (Boy Scouts, etc). Ooops, those are also problems caused by liberals.
-Free Speech, turning objective criticism into hate speech (liberal)
-Right to Life if every part of your body except your head is outside of the womb (liberal)
Give the poor guy a break.
This thread was first posted at 9:37am, and your post number 367 at 11:08am, a mere 91 minutes later, makes a response rate of 4.03 posts per minute, or nearly one response every 15 seconds, nearly all of which are directed to him.
If he took five minutes to draft a response to a single post, he'd find himself 20 posts behind by the time he submitted it.
LOL!
I just knew you would.
Maybe we scare away liberals who aren't clinical egomaniacs. Maybe that's why they always have to introduce themselves and then start "lively and interesting" threads.
Hi Howlin, Good to see you again. Looks like we are on a thread where you and I will agree!
Then you have been bamboozled, my FRiend...the Federal Leviathan has become a self-serving entity, more concerned with self-preservation growing its own power than serving the common good.

I guess I should have asked what civil liberties have been eroded by Bush. CFR? Well the 527's had their say.
I speak fluent cliche. Yes, I like Christmas.
Where do you see the President exceeding the power that the constitution currently affords him? That is why we have the checks and balance in the Judical and Legislative branchs..
The converse question can be how do we limit the activity of activist judges that attempt to legislate from the bench?
Well written!!
Yup. ...and I did not abandon the Democratic Party. They abandoned me, many years ago.
Is that an exceptionally small kitten or an excessively large lime?
Which sentence? I mostly do orginal writting, and I am certainly not a Marxist. I am a classical liberal, which makes me an ultra conservative in 2004.
Hey that was my first reaction too, (I posted as much) but now that he is responding, he had failed to address even a few of the earliest and I think very reasonable questions. Still a lot of sucking up,rather than getting down to the substance, he asked for.
Welcome to FR. Just make sure you are logged in.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know about the first part. Government takes one dollar, keeps 90 cents for itself and then dispenses the other 10 cents to get its way.
A weakened President would mean a weakened country. Let me see now.....who would like to see America weakened? Could it be the leftist liberals par chance?
Probing fer WHAT?! I do agree with you about the lack of "...a single response of substance", though.
